I hope that the FF is released with the 24-70. This will be my lens of choice considering that I shoot landscape. But it will be interesting to see if they go wider with a prime....very interesting

Did Ricoh Imaging break some promise? Nope; it's exactly as they said: they are releasing a FF product line, started in spring with the 150-450mm and the first camera is expected before the end of the year. There's nothing outrageous about that considering they couldn't start before 2012 (for why is that, ask Hoya).
Then, why are you angry at them?

I think anxious is the word, not angry. People are just getting over excited that's all. It's going to be exciting times ahead and everyone's getting desperate. Guys, hopefully in a fortnights times we'll have some concrete news that we can play with and we can all calm down and enjoy the release. I said, hopefully, cause really who even knows if the rumors are real or not. We could have to wait longer

This would help explain the persistent lower prices for them now...

This is not funny anymore. Pentax may want to switch name to "waiting" or "expecteing" quite soon.

This is a standard troll tactic even if the OP is not that in fact. We need to be careful not to carelessly engage in feeding.

Doesn't that only validate his point more?

No, since last year things have been seen in progress, facts according to Ricoh's official communication.
That reminder is pointless until end of 2015, if and only if there's no FF release in the meantime.

His point being that Ricoh will never make a ff and making fools of all of us. Sure if you want to believe that go ahead. I mean we want the FF now Ricoh. Give it to us. Not in month NOW! or we will move to Canonisony!

The last thing on earth the Limiteds need IMHO is DC autofocus. Why? Because their strong suit is not just the image quality but also their lightness and compactness. You ruin that if you put the AF motor inside the lens body. HD and WR, on the other hand, are worth having in an upgrade - even if it's only a gasket on the mount to protect the camera's integrity, because I'm not sure true WR is achievable on a lens with an aperture ring (though I'd be delighted to be proved wrong).

Overall, I fear that the aperture ring is a thing of the past. Happy are the Pentax film shooters who have a camera with electronic modes that can work with ringless lenses, even if it's only a humble P3. Some sort of glassed adaptor with mechanical stop-down will be required if we want full back-compatibility from now on.

You ma be correct about WR and aperture rings but all of the recent Samyang lenses have aperture rings and they are very modern and most of them are really nice lenses. Of course, they are always completely manual so maybe that is why they retain the rings.

Not necessarily.

Compare the FA 20-35, a light and compact screw drive lens,
with the DA 20-40 DC that was developed from it.
(Sure, it's not FF, but shares the basic size of the optics.)
Lengths are about the same, and the DC lens is only 15% heavier.

Assuming we consider Pentax to have any "true WR" lenses I can't imagine what would make an aperture ring impossible on them (physically, as a marketing matter it may well be impossible). After all, an aperture ring is just like a focus (or zoom) ring - a ring around the lens you can rotate that has some mechanical connection to the inside of the lens.

On the subject of aperture rings, if the FF is good at video, maybe we will see some Pentax Cine lenses announced soon, with de-clicked aperture ring, horizontal control layouts, geared control rings. Maybe we can look forward to a FA31 T2.0, FA 77 T2.0, DFA 100 T3.0 etc in future ...

SamYang is doing cine lenses, Tokina is doing them (they even do a Cinema 50-135mm T3.0) Zeiss, Schneider, Canon ... cine lenses seem to be good business at the moment.
