Rumor: Pentax FF new Limited lenses coming soon?

I was browsing through the rangefinder forum when I happened upon this statement. I't seems pure conjecture at this point, but one can hope. Regardless 2015 it's going to be an exciting year for Pentax.

"The FF is coming in 2015, in testing now. There will be a whole new line up of lens to accompany it, including new Limited. My friend is an engineer of Ricoh Japan."

I believe we will see mostly new zoom lenses with it. Big ones optimized for digital. If there are new Limiteds they are probably limited(!) to upgrade of the existing ones.

I agree, even refreshing or upgrading their existing (or legacy) lineups will be a much welcomed news for Pentax shooters (most lens designs are decades old). I'd be happy with new coatings, round blades ( and WR + DC if they can find the space)

Here we go again How many FF threads do we need? The real need is for wide angle. 20-24-28

I'd be happy if they brought back the FA 85 1.4 as I would really like to get a new one of those.

Yup. One of my friends is a son of the former Ricoh CEO, and he doesn't say anything about it. How about that?

And don't forget the 200/4 macro! That could bring some hard core Pentaxians that have already left back to the brand

When looking at the road map I note that no FF lenses have got the HD coating. It can be a good or a bad sign depending on your mood

There is no doubt that the right lenses could attract new and existing users the Ricoh/Pentax direction. The revamped limiteds plus a couple new ones might just do the trick. Maybe a 21mm F/2.4 and a 135mm f/2.2. I just made those up of course, I have know idea what they would be but something like that might be cool. Add the dc motor and wr and they would be a pretty sweet bag of tricks to carry around.

I understand that the circumstances of the quote are sketchy, to me it seems genuine since the speaker doesn't have any personal investment on the matter (perhaps I'm being naive) So far only two mystery big zooms that might work on the FF system have been unveiled without any specification. As far as the new limited making an appearance before the camera, it gets me excited beyond measure. Whether wide angle or a short-telephoto it should be a stellar performer. If Pentax can refresh the d-Fa line the new system should be spectacular through and through.

I found the rumor genuine because the writer doesn't seem to have a personal investment on the system (perhaps I'm being naive). Apart from the new zoom lenses that are "under engineering" we haven't gotten much details on new lenses. I was also intrigued by the mentioning of a new limited to go with the new FF system. Whether its a wide angle or short-telephoto lens (i'm leaning towards the former), It's going to be a stellar performer. Coupled with some refreshed D-FA limited lenses, the Pentax FF it's going to be extraordinary. These are exiting times indeed.
