It does wifi. It won' t have raw or a 1/1/7" or 1" sensor. No sense in complaining about it.

edit: and there is a gray one.

adventure proof! wowzers! I bet no one else has that. Is this a new strategy? Don't announce anything new at the major bi-annual Photography event but just before and after it? Maximum attention from news starved photography sites?

Looks like good updates. Anything impressing in them compared to the last version?

"Denver, Colorado October 8, 2014 RICOH IMAGING AMERICAS CORPORATION announces the launch of the new Ricoh WG-30W. Building on the heritage of the amazing adventure proof cameras in the WG series, the WG-30w comes equipped with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and advanced smartphone support functions so one can easily browse through and download their adventures to share with family and friends. Designed to capture outdoor activities effortlessly, the WG-30w has a durable construction and a variety of outstanding features that make it ideal for those with an active lifestyle."

It is my impression that Ricoh "tests" new technologies on a lesser camera body before releasing it on the important ones.

K-01 >> new IBIS, Prime-M, Focus Peaking
MX-1 >> Hinged LCD
K-S1 >> Rear Mode Dial
etc.

+1110 to that! A very warmed-over rebirth of the WG-20, with the same horrid 2.7" 260k dot LCD. (I thought those screens were all reserved for children's toys and coffeemakers?)

Now I've seen this, I wish Ricoh would put wifi / NFC on Q series.

Actually I thought the accompanying selection of mounts was far more interesting. Adding WiFi is a good step but otherwise essentially the same camera, no big deal. But the mount system ties together the WG series and takes everything in a new direction. Head to head with GoPro. Not sure how much traction they will get there but once again an innovative product in a market category that Canon/Nikon are not present in.

Which seems to be Ricoh's strategy. Find someplace in the camera industry that Canikon is not and make a product for that niche.

I meant, Jeebus . . . . . . . He getts wifi and now he's whining about GPS.

Does it never end?

Well if we are going to whine, I would FAR rather have the GPS than the WiFi. GPS is useful, WiFi not so much. (At least I have not been able to find a use for it, though I am open to suggestions)

Useless cameras. All specs are very weak, except water, dust and shock resistance.
WG-3 GPS had 2.0-4.9 lens and bigger LCD...
Right?
