Clearly.
The theta has nothing opf an action cam and doesn't pretend to be one.

My son's father-in-law bought a Theta for that purpose but apparently getting to the images for viewing by clients was a hassle.

I wouldn't ever send the images in this case. It's really not built for that.
Embed the images in a siple web page with the proper plugin.
That's what the theta is for IMO.

Client-wise (not useage-wise) it is the same as sending them RAW files. It only brings problem.
Place those pics on a simple easy to remember/aceess web page and you're good to go.

No, but it (the Kodak) opens up and reveals this potential market, which Ricoh with the Theta is well positioned to capitalise on in the future.

Seeing that Ricoh has already introduced two kodak spin offs(xg-1 and wg-m1), we might also see this in ricoh colours

I know. SOmething about Missouri Real Estate laws makes that impossible (listing agent regulatory issues).

Here in Italy I've seen many a real estate website with navigable 360° (or a little bit less) pictures using javascript ... IQ is less than toilet-rate, but at least you get an idea...

I suppose it's not like that *isn't* a market. I used to pick up a few bucks here and there from em before automation took over.

Perhaps this is a naïve question but how do photos from the Theta differ form normal 360 panos?

If you check the site, you'll see pretty quickly...they cover all 360 degrees, including up and down. it's a spherical image. it also happens with one click. If the quality of the image were better, i think it be a smash. it's a beautiful, brilliant idea, and possibly the best tool ever made for capturing the totality of a moment. it will be amazing when the quality is improved in a generation or two.

Now they just go in themselves and take a cr***y picture with blown out windows and underexposed interiors...

This thing looks like the IR remote for my K-5. I could actually use one of those.
