New Pentax System rebates

Just saw this on www.pentaxslr.com- Pentax has a new system rebate program in effect for about a month- 100 off the K20/200, 50 off the AF360/540, 100 off 16-45, 16-50, and 50-135, and 25 off the battery grips.

Link

Speculation: maybe they're trying to clear the inventory of the 16-45 to make way for the 17-70.

*awesome*

I'm about to be in the market for a 50-135, having decided to just get this instead of a FA50mm.

-$100 just sweetens the deal!

Thanks for the link, Clawhammer! It's always a good thing to see this sort of information getting shared around.

If I am reading it correctly, the rebates on the lenses are applicable only when they are purchesed with a K20D/K200D. This makes the rebates useless for me...

Be careful. This time, the body AND other lenses should be purchased AT THE SAME TIME

Thanks a lot.. I have waited for this kind of rebate and finally just ordered my K20D & lenses...

Ah bummer, you're right

That's what I get for reading something around midnight!

Oh well, I'm still getting the 50-135!

Well, I predicted the K20D would be below 1K by this particular day on some other thread several month back. Wouldn't you guess, I just bought it Monday (got it yesterday) from Willoughys (Amazon) for 1059.00. Could have used the additional 100 bucks for a final price of 959.00.

Oh, well.

Rebates... an indication that the K20/K200D are not moving fast enough off the store shelves? Anyway you guys in the US get all the best prices...

See the earlier thread about Canon prices after rebate. It's just a market reality that they have to do this to compete.

Still over priced, IMO

It's been 94 days since the first forum member got their K20D and it is already down to $1,020 after rebate if you buy from B & H, and they aren't the lowest. That's over a 20% drop. We might be looking at less than $800 by the 180 day mark.

I checked all body prices at B & H. The Canon 40D is now at $940. I'm not saying they are equal but the market puts them in the same category, and the Canon name is worth more in the market. The Canon 400D is at $570 and the K200D is $530 so that's about right. The K20D is still about $125 over market.

Wait to see the prices by thanksgiving day, I would be surprised if the K20d is more expensive than 800$

BTW, I am not interested on the K20D but I would be interested in the 540 flash. If somebody is interested in making use of the rebate and doesnt mind to buy the flash for me, I would be quite happy. Dont hesitate to PM me.

This is what I'm waiting/hoping for.
