They make this crazy souped up version of the same Pentax MX-1 / Olympus XZ-2 design. It's built like a tank, can shoot over 500 shots on its battery, and can bracket two parameters at once, such as focus and aperture, resulting in 9 shots. It has a really good interface too. I think they only sell it in certain parts of Asia and it costs a fortune, so I doubt they sell many.

The Casio EX-10 enthusiast compact camera features a 12MP 1/1.7" back-illuminated CMOS sensor and 3.5-inch touchscreen display that rotates upward by 180 degrees. The EX-10 features the same 28-112mm equivalent F1.8-2.5 lens as the Olympus XZ-2 and Pentax MX-1. The camera has a dial around the lens whose function can be customized. You'll find not one, but two shutter release buttons, one of which (on the front) can function differently than the main one. Yes. That's the one. What isn't so apparent from pictures is how big, heavy and expensive it is. It's like they built a DSLR grade camera around a rather normal point and shoot core. I'd like to try one out, but you could get a K-5 II for what they're asking for it here in Japan. There's also the EX-100, which is very similar with the 28-200 equivalent lens from the Olympus Stylus 1.

Anyway, the only reason I brought this up was to say that Casio is still making cameras and appears to be trying to go upmarket in an interesting way.

This years CP+ should prove to be very interesting. In the past Pentax hasn't always had the best representation at trade shows. This year's CP+ should be better overall. Their booth, while not as large as Canon or Nikon, is respectable in size and on par with Fuji. Now, what will they be announcing?

I searched a bit and I found that Ricoh has had the very same booth as last year, according to that plan.

My japanese skills are very limited, but I'm pretty sure to read rikō imējingu ( リコー イメージング ), wich means obviously Ricoh Imaging, in the top-right corner.

But that's still very good news : Ricoh keep on putting money on big booths, one year after presenting the concept of a CMOS 645.
