Pentax in Camera Magazin (Germany)

Hi everybody,
I don't know if you saw this floating around online: Japanische Juwelen ? camera Magazin

It looks like the paper issue of Camera Magazin in Germany this month features a section on Pentax history. The photos in the piece look excellent (I've attached one to this post)! Can anyone get their hands on a copy and tell us about the whole story?

The cover of the issue is pretty great, too! Please, if you're a German Pentaxian, keep an eye out for this on newsstands!

I hate to say it, but that cover photo really doesn't give the reader a good impression of Pentax quality. A camera really shouldn't come apart like that in someone's hands.

I know what you mean but the fact the title comes from inside the "broken body" means more they are gonna explore what lie inside the brand... I think it is pretty smart :-)

LOL!

It does look funny though, especially with the shocked expression on his face.

There is one comment written by a reader under the article. Online it translates to:

Even though I have only seen the online version, deserves the very fact praise, the "brand under the radar" once again to recall Foto-Geschichte has written more than once. The contribution was observed even on the other side of the Atlantic, as shown by the following thread on pentaxforums.com shows:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/16-pentax-news-rumors/283504-pentax-camer...n-germany.html

however would be to hope that readers do not have the impression that lingers, that Pentax has survived and is still only at flea markets. In fact, Ricoh with its Pentax-Kameras also today still has a lot to offer, what is behind the industry among the need not to hide. In my opinion Pentax-Kameras offer high photographic commercial and fun, excellent ergonomics, are robust, remain affordable and above all excellent pictures ...

Hahaha! Which one of you German readers posted that comment on the Camera Magazin website? I think pieces like this are good because the more is written about the great heritiage of Pentax, the more people remember that Pentax isn't dead, and that they still make excellent cameras!

That's more like it! More exposure. Let the whole world know what Pentax can do! More, more, more, more, more and more ads!

Good one.

I always get a kick out of magazine, advertising departments when they take a product apart like that , running it through a band saw.

It's interesting to see the complexity of different machines, but a bit of a waste.

It says "Good things from Pentax. Small and middle format - both domains of previous Pentax cameras. This popular photography brand brought new pioneering/ trend-setting camera models to the market over and over through the decades. In Camera 1/2015, the author Jürgen Lossau, will be evaluating the Japanese jewels/gems."

But I don't see the full article available. This is just a website teaser. The user comment is longer than the synopsis. But good to hear about Pentax. I was in Germany recently, had I known about this article, I would have looked for the magazine.. oh well

I think you got it wrong. The German adverb “schnittig” is difficult to translate; maybe sleeky, rakish. So the phrase “schnittige Kameras” should be understand as a commendation! Most commonly it is used in connection with cars (f.i. you can say “ein schnittiger Porsche” but if you say “ein schnittiger Hyundai” you will see puzzled faces). Furthermore, it’s a play of words with the noun “Schnitt” or the verb “schneiden” (cut) – which obviously happened to this nice one. It didn’t simply “come apart”. ;-)

Knowing how these magazines used to work (I haven't bought any in years), I'm asking myself if it can be entirely fortuitous that such coverage of Pentax's glorious past is coming right now. If there is a connection with the things to come from Ricoh, it might mean good things for the continuity of the K-mount.
