If KS-1 is entry level, drop the Kxx line, this replaces the K-3 and makes room for FF K-1 (with dx equivalent feature) below the 645Z

Don't think that this one will replace k-3 (no top LCD)... it would be entry-level or little higher at best.

Of course not, but it is encouraging that something else will be revealed at CP+. Remember that Pentax is a JAPANESE company that markets principally to the home market. Given that, the fact that CES is in Las Vegas and CP+ is in Japan, and this is not their flagship model the chances of a bigger reveal in February are very high indeed!

Yeah, def looks like it'll slot in above the K-S1, maybe at $750-800 or so. (New Nikon D5500 is $900). Then people will complain that it is too expensive vis a vis the K-3, right up until the K-3II is announced at CP+, lol.
Kinda depends on the sensor, no? If this has 24MP, there's not much lacking vrs the K-3 except the top LCD - and this has integrated wifi and tilting LCD. In which case that would quite reasonably explain the price drop on the K-3. And then you can expect the K-3 replacement to either be FF or to have some very new APS-C sensor tech inside, maybe with a Sony sensor following Samsung on the backlit APS-C cmos sensor path? Just thinking out loud here...

They could go with the 24 MP sensor but only provide 12-bit RAW files vs. 14-bit.

Like K30/50/500 & K-01 vs K-5/II/IIS...

We've seen the tease. Now it's time to wait for CP+.

My guess is the gaffer tape is covering up the camera name. Because I think Pentax is still debating about calling it KS-50 or something like that. Still DC and WR on a ultra compact kit lens...I've never had LBA for a kit lens before but it might be time now.

Looking at the bottom of this camera, it seems to me that's some kind of a step in the front and half of the lateral. It's only pure speculation, but maybe, this is a sign that this camera will have a vertical grip.

Personally, I remember when I only have a K-r, and my biggest problem was the lack of such a grip, because of my big hands.
