Honestly I also find back-lit buttons idea to be cool, it is one of the best ever innovations made for laptops.
If there are settings to dim the back-lit buttons, they surely can be handy in my opinion.

Only if the buttons can be turned off so as not to ruin night vision.

I'd imagine they could be turned off, if they were implemented. I mean, pretty much everything on my k-3 and k-30 can be turned off for stealth shooting.

I'm sure they will have the same sort of menu settings for the lamps that they have for the K-S1 - bright, dim, and off (which is itself similar to the power lamp on the K-m and K-x). On the 'S1, bright includes the notorious grip LEDs, the power switch, and the backlighting on the mode dial and OK button; dim turns off the grip LEDs and dims the rest, and off turns off everything.

I haven't followed the K-S1 issue much, how do you like the camera other than the aesthetics?
Small, light (very close to the K-01) but still solid-feeling, easy to carry one-handed; the grip shape is a little more angular than I would like, but you get used to it quickly. Overall handling reminds me a lot of the K-x. The AF/MF switch design was a mistake; it's too easy to bump, but my left hand seems to have learned to protect it. Shutter sound is the "sonic boom" of the K-30/50/500. The AF motor is faster, but a little more shrill. LiveView is slightly improved.

In good light, IQ is very good. For reasons I can't really quantify, I think my snub F35-70 performs better with the 20MP than my 16MP bodies (where it is no slouch). In poor light, there is a little more noise than the 16MP, but it is of the luminescence variety, not false color, and is easy to clean up without loss of detail. All in all, a very capable little camera - excellent for travel or daytrips for fair-weather types like me (but I've had non-WR bodies out in light rain and snow plenty of times, so I'm sure it would be fine - it's a Pentax).

K-A1 (gotta start somewhere)
K-B1 (Bad ass)
K-C1 for compact or cats,
K-D1 for digital .
K-F1 Features.
K-H1 Homey
K-i1(ant one)
K-J1 Just Kidding,
K-K1 (K short of being racist),
K-L1 Love baby!,
K-N1 newby,
K-P1 (Pro),
K-Q1 (just to be confusing us a little more),
K-R1 (recreational)
K-T1 (in every colour as long as it is black),
K-U1(t one),
K-V1 (versatile),
K-W1 (water resistant),
K-X1 (Xtreme)
K-Y1 (when you can have two)
K-Z1 (and the sunshine band).
You omitted K-G1. Are you German?

Take a picture of the black new DSLR camera (the one with the flipped LCD screen) with a smartphone by extending your arm in front of you and adequately tilting your phone .

KG is very well known by those who lived during WWII and I don't mean the Germans only. It means Kriegsgefangener in German i.e. prisoner of war. Kind of 'loaded' today.

It is also short for Kilogram which is a very 'loaded' term amongst mirror less users.

Well that sounds like a great camera for New Zealand.

Nice pun but the SI unit symbol for kilogram is kg, not KG .

Quick video of the Ricoh booth with discussion of the prototypes (still no view of the back - but I'll be very surprised if it doesn't have a button layout like the K-50).

And a walkthrough of the Ricoh booth, courtesy Ricoh. They skipped the prototypes, just because they like to torment us. Even though the K-50 was not featured, it looks like there were three demo bodies available.

If this is NFC this could be the best feature... when added to the wifi. Imagine having five (let's guess that's the limit due to file size) cameras lined up in communication with one another. Panorama photos stitched together at 5*20MP all with exactly the SAME exposures at the same instant... instead of a patchwork to put together. Hopefully the RICOH engineers think as big as me.

Cheers
