I really like the button layout on the top to be honest!
It definitely looks like it has an articulating back screen... a step in the right direction I'd say.

Do we have an image from the back?
If it has the same button layout as the K-S1 (at the back), I don't know if I would like it as much...

And the lens has the focal length indicator pointer sitting at a dot, not at a specified focal length. That, with the little button past the 50 designator, and looking rather like the "A" lock button on K-mount lens with an aperture ring, might indicate that this lens can be focal-length controlled from buttons/levers on the backside of the camera, similar to many point-and-shoot cameras.

My guess is that this lens is like many of the other retracting zoom lenses for other systems such as Nikon's 1 series, the micro 4/3, and Sony's E mount. With those, the lens can retract into itself for compactness, but must extend before use. So the dot setting may just be for storage and the button may be for unlocking the lens from its retracted setting. This is how the Olympus 14-42mm Mk II lens works.

Well I (we?) may not like the pace at Ricoh gets stuff done but I really do think they are listening to critics and the enthususts. A new kit lens is over due to say the least. Hopefully it is quiet, fast and better optically than the competition. And the new zooms..... nough said. Full Frame around the corner.

It seems to be a "18-50 f4-5.6" lens based on what's written on the lens. A pancake kit lens, it seems. Maybe it'll replace the 18-55 DAL?

Also, there seems to be a hinged screen finally! (And a mic port for a non-flagship Pentax. That's nice to see.) As for the lenses, I wonder if they'll announce the proper FL's, names, and perhaps a bit of specs at CES?

So do you guys think Pentax will implement a form of power zoom that automatically collapses a lens to its smallest size when the camera is turned off? Looks like a handy feature, but since I mostly use primes, I see this is as just another piece of tech that can fail

If that is an articulated display, that is very exciting! Overall the camera looks great, has the sleek modern texture on the body, like the K-S1. And then it has nice texture where the hand closes on the body. Good stuff

It is the size of the K-s1, has a k-50 grip and the articulating screen of the 645Z. So it must be the K-s5z. This doesnt answer the question of why is the K-3 so damn cheap right now could it be that we will see a K-3 with an articulating screen at CP+? Maybe a K-3z
