But it is new to Ricoh/Pentax. I suspect it took longer to realize they needed to add WiFi than to actually implement it.

I think the FLUCard WiFi was a stop gap, implemented quickly once whoever makes these decisions decided that adding WiFi was a good idea. Now we are looking at the internally developed solution. Whether the FluCard was good/bad idea I've no idea. At least it worked, and perhaps the sales numbers gave them a good idea of actual consumer interest.

Whether it should have taken them this long to realize WiFi was needed is another discussion.

Hmm! Simulated carbon fiber overlay? That will peel off fast!

What is the logo printed in the grip rubber? Seen it somewhere before.

So the square hood and slip on lens cap. The side profile looks like the KS-1 where there's a join seam. The little Pentax name on the side of the lens is interesting.

NFC. Likely for an easy WI-FI setup.

Maybe it is so you can "bump" uglies with a cell phone or another camera to share pic's...?

Or is the logo of a coffee shop somewhere in China. (DigitalRevTV guys were "confused" as well when they were inside that shop in one of their episodes).

Just don't use it. The added cost of a FluCard is MUCH higher than having it built into the body, especially when the costs can be shared across models (the K-3 successor, the upcoming FF...). Watch the App Store/Play Store for a new Pentax WiFi remote control app
The remote control would be Oh so useful it would certainly make getting bird photos of shy birds easier. then if the power zoom would return we could do our 'birding' from the easy chair with thehelp of a power
tripod.

The Playboy Bunny?

So if this camera gets labeled "K-S10" or K-S(something) are the "traditionalist" snobs going to start holding their noses and push it away with a 3 meter pole? Maybe the TCS "Worst Camera of 2015"?

Yeah that's NFC for quick pairing... Also looks like Ricoh/Pentax needs body dust reduction not just sensor. hehehe

Let's not go there... I'm sticking to a "not for me, but I'm happy anyway" (NFMbIHA) philosophy.

Yep, if you are ever going to take closeups of your gear, keep your rocket blaster handy.

Nice camera.

I'm holding out for something bigger.

Yes, and that gap under the overlay near the shutter button is worrisome. But don't forget this is only a prototype.
