Could be 100% possible, the new Nikon D5500 have it so there is no reason why the Pentax wont. But, of course is not 100% true. it will be kind of dissaponted if it doesnt have it, not because people will need it but because if the Nikon D5500 is the one that is side by side, not having a touch screen could be a hurt the marketing.

Touch screens are actually really nice for street shooting. Much faster than selecting a focus by a 4-pad and the new generation live view AF is very quick itself.

It's frustrating that Pentax arrives late to these parties so frequently.

I find selecting focus points so incredibly slow. For something like street shooting I can't see how that would even work?

Touch screens, hmm... if used to replace buttons and dials, they're a disaster. If not, they're just a way to fill the screen with greasy fingerprints, making it harder to see.

They'll make a big deal about it when it gets here, like saying they have a touch screen, or they have wifi onboard - built in with no stupid flu card, or a 70-200mm 2.8 lens; all of which the competition already offers.

When I think of Pentax I think: Great image quality, good value for money, good ergonomics, weather resistant solid bodies, good viewfinders and sensor stabilisation, and often a good proportion of these on the middle range cameras also.
Genuinely can't help but think Sony gets to claim a chunk of that nowadays, minus probably the good ergonomics and viewfinder if you don't like EVFs?

Any other manufacturer come to mind for those features?
Maybe Olympus? Sorry I'm not up with the play on all of them.

Pentax had touch-screen in an Optio some years ago. I was never impressed by it, I found it more cumbersome than physical controls. But perhaps Pentax was too early back then...

I cannot agree more! Touch screens are ok... As long as I don't have to use them. In other words, as long as there are still hardware buttons and wheels available for during actual shooting. I can understand menu browsing and such to become touch screen only though. Having said that, I realise there's a large portion of potential users that grew up with touch screens and actually do prefer it. Pentax is not tending to those preferences right now.

Touch screens have no tactile feedback like Physical buttons, so they won't replace those. They will just make navigating the menu easier and be of use when shooting in live view and filming.

I personally prefer physical buttons, but a touch screen would not prevent me from purchasing a new Pentax, especially if it could be switched off. I have trouble accidentally pressing the color balance of the 4-way with my right thumb, much less having a screen that might react to my nobly dimensioned nose.
