For those of you interested in this lens, well-known macro photographer and Pentax shooter Thomas Shahan has just posted a video review.

Looks very nice but Thomas' pictures are outstanding no matter what lens he is using

"I'm in love with the lens."

Can't get much better than that!

Here's a hands-on review with a Nikon:

Venus 60mm 2:1 Macro (for anyone who is interested) | Nikon Cafe

There seems having a conclusion that it is not a bad macro and naturally goes to 2:1.

Hmm... Always fascinated by special lenses like these. I just ordered myself one, so we'll find out soon enough whether it's any good. It won't replace my FA50/2.8 (=compact and fast in use, perfect macro to have along just in case) or Sigma EX180/3.5 (=ideal working distance and tele capacity, i.e. my rain forest lens), but it has a good chance to become my "home studio" macro lens.

I've downloaded three of their RAW files available for download (on their website)
And it was interesting to see Lightroom is saying one of them were shot with Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM lens! but the other two had no indication of the lens. only the camera which was a canon apsc.
It's a lens with no contacts. The camera would have no way to insert lens info into the exif. The one flagged as 40mm ... who knows?

I wonder how long that logo will last once the Nissan legal department sinks their teeth in.

Looks like they changed the name and logo:

[Update: 2nd Feb] Venus Optics is now changing the brand logo into a fresh and energetic green logo. Our brand name will also transit from ‘VENUS’ to ‘LAOWA’. The lens shipped from now on will be printed with the name of ‘LAOWA’ instead.

This lens is very interesting. I don't care if a normal 1:1 with a extension tube can also reach 2:1, because this 2:1 with the same extension tube can reach 4:1.
