That is one good looking camera, lets hope most of the features make it into the new flagship.

LOL. I *did* put a query out here at Pentax forums, but no takers.

LIES!

Some of us are held by the genitals until May 22nd, 2021 when such contractual agreements with Uncle Sam expire, though

(For those that have been in the service, yes that's a long contract. Mine was 11 years from the date of commission )

(Also yea I'm getting to this late - just got out of a field training exercise. My feet hurt lol)

I don't recall any official statement about this button being a wifi toggle. While one can deduce this because of its location, the wifi indication might relate to the luminous ring around it. The button itself might be a customizable function button, for all I know. Purely speculating though, just as you all.
Interesting. Would be possible. Another possibility is that the button allows you to turn it on and off (save power) or to send the last photo to your (connected) phone. Hopefully there are plenty of options... I doubt I would use WiFi so often that having such a prominent place on the camera is necessary...

I hope you got a lot of 'schoolin' for your generous years of service.

View finder looks flushed to the back of the flip screen.

Wondering if that could be uncomfortable.

They know what the name will be. If you look closely, the name is covered with gaffer's tape.

Yes, and the name may have been changed which is why it was covered. And perhaps it has been changed again since the show began. And even if it wasn't covered the official press release notes that with the show prototypes names, design, specifications and release dates are all subject to change without notice. We won't know until a formal announcement is made.

It could be the internal name for the camera, which isn't what it's going to be. So what do you guys think, what will it be?

K-70? It's a pity that it runs concurrent to the naming scheme of the higher end bodies... it would have been nice if it were K-70, K-7 --> K-50, K-5 --> K-30, K-3. Though I guess it makes sense the way it is, with higher end bodies the smaller the number, the better, while normal customers may think the higher the better...? But then the K-500 would be above the K-70...

I could also imagine seeing them switch to a K-(letter) number system. Say K-R1 (regular), K-M1 (mainstream), and then the K-3 successor could be K-P1 for pro. S remains special, experiments, ...

I think this camera could give the D5300 some tough competition. It is very similar, but prettier. Video quality itself will be good I think, since the D5300 is good and Pentax might end up with the same or similar hardware. Stills quality... it's a Pentax, it will be good. Usability... same thing, it's not experimental, so I'm not worried. The only doubt I have is if the software makes full use of the hardware for both stills and video.

Pentaprism - check
Dual control wheels - check
100% viewfinder coverage - check
WR - check
In-body focus motor - check

Yep. Pretty much the same camera.

:P Similar positioning, flip out screen, similar hardware inside (Fujitsu processor, Sony sensor (presumably)). It does offer quite a bit more than the D5300 for sure, SR, WR, better viewfinder, etc. So hopefully it will kick the D5300' butt.

It wouldnt be a bad idea to have a grip for a mid-range. I have a k-30. I love it.
With wifi and articulating screen I am looking at this camera intently. Should it there be a possibility for a grip, I will start grovelling to my wife.
