Looks like the entire syopt.com domain is inaccessible. It wasn't yesterday. The lens looks good. If it is around €400 it will probably do well.

if those MTF charts are accurate this lens will have noticeable LoCa, also the amount of field curvature and astigmatism in the corners at f/8 is worrying.

You seem to know well the science of optics (i know pretty much the basics, but not much). Would you mind explaining me how you know there is field curvature when seeing the MTF charts ? My wild guess is because line tend to curves in V or A form ?

A comparison with the Canon 135mm f/2L, showing the superiority of the Samyang lens over their copy of the Canon lens:

Gear for Image :: Samyang 135mm f2 Review:Samyang 135mm f2 vs Canon EF 135mm 2 L

Twenty-six pictures can be downloaded in original size. They were taken with various cameras: Canon EOS 5D Mk II (24x36; 5,616 x 3,744 pixels), Canon EOS 600D (APS-C; 5,184 x 3,456 pixels), Nikon D810 (24x36; 7,360 x 4,912 pixels) and Nikon D5300 (APS-C; 6,000 x 4,000 pixels).

Looking good. Don't need to shoot monochrome after all.

Holy mackerel, looks like I just found my next lens purchase...if they bother with KA mount (I'll believe it when see it).

Actually, it'd be nice to see this up against the K135/2.5 and A135/1.8 to see how the older lenses hold up - though with the trouncing it gave to the canon L, I wouldn't expect much (albeit that was one sample against another, hardly conclusive).

Glad to see lenses like this being made. I imagine being a lens designer for Samyang right now must be pretty rewarding.

Yes, the performance of the Samyang is indeed worrisome for
  1. Canon and other manufacturers that do not reach the same level of performance but charge a lot more (AF not being mandatory for everyone), and
  2. anyone who thought they did not need another lens and then this came along. I'm one of them.

P.S.: In case anyone missed it: Mistral75 highlighted K-mount ("Pentax K") support in the list of supported mounts. Big thumbs up for Samyang!

Yeah, I didn't think they'd manufacture Pentax mount copies for a while, but it looks like the newish 50/1.4 made it to K-mount on B&H, so it may be faster than expected.

P.S. love the bokeh in the review, wide open shows very little edge ringing (which I think means they didn't overcorrect for spherical aberration).

look at the shape of the MTF curves at wide open Vs stopped down to f/8 the Sagittal and Meridonial lines should ( with an ideal lens) both be perfectly straight, but here we see that there is a slight shifting in the focal plane caused by field curvature ( The focus field isn't flat, which is bad for macro or close up work). Also the divergence of the Sagittal and Meridonal lines towards the right edge of the MTF chart is strongly indicative of astigmatism.
