What's Next

Well CES has come and gone and now we wait for the next event. So what have we learned from CES.?

1. A new APSC Mid Range Camera is planned (Mockup and everything)
2. Two new Consumer kit lenses that look interesting and represent a positive shift on the part of Ricoh Pentax
3. The showing of the same mockups for the Fast Telezoom and the High Magnification (150-400mm) zoom however these versions have some cosmetic changes from their last showing.

So based on this, what are we to expect at CP+ in early Feburary? If we expect some progress from this past show, I would imagine that it will be incremental. Perhaps a revised version of the Mid Range mockup and some more details on features. Maybe we can expect a release date on the camera and perhaps for some of the new lenses.

If something is announced re FF I think it will follow this same incremental process and could be either vapourware via a news release re intentions, or at best a mockup of the new body.

If anything is released outright I think that it would probably be a Ricoh camera product rather than a Pentax product.

Which "two new Consumer kit lenses"?

Do you mean the black copy AND the white copy of the smc Pentax-DA L 18-50mm f/4-5.6 DC WR RE?

Yes, you're right, there was actually just the one lens. I stand corrected

I expect more at CP+ because Japan is Pentax's main market and they play to the home market much more than anywhere else.

I would say more details on the 'CES body' and kit lens, details of the FF 70-200 and 150-450 lenses and a FF body announced with an example under glass for release later in the year.....

Some new Ricoh products I guess. MX-2 and WG-5 series.

Any FF would be a surprise for me.

I also expect nothing special and I am content. Therfor I surmise that they will indeed release something cool just to anoy me.

Seriously though. Everything we saw at CES with the actual details. They may have something like a new q lens as well.

What i expect??

- full details of the new CES body
- full details of the CES lenses (FF 70-200, FF 100 - 400, kit 18-50 )
- FF body announcement ( with body under glass ) with some details, hopefully with ALL the details ( but who knows )

That would be nice... because if is not at CP+ when will it happen? Photokina 2016 is just too far away, and CP+ looks like is the most important in Japan so..

This is how the new Nikon D7200 could come with:

QuoteQuote:
New 24MP APS-C sensor
Nikon D750 styled body with a tilting screen
Expeed 4 processor
MultiCAM 3500DX2 autofocus system
51 AF points
Built-in Wi-Fi
6fps
Buffer: 16 RAW+JPG
Video: 1080p @60 and 720p @120 (not sure about 4k)
Video aperture will be adjustable during live view
Expected announcement in the first few months of 2015

So perhaps we can expect something "similar" for the K3.. but if is like this.. i dont see a point for developing a K3 replacement if there is so little improvement over the original K3.... is more reasonable to expect a FF body announcement than a K3 replacement with "almost" this Nikon D7200 features.
