I think basically what I mean is a body of similar dimensions of the *ist series, but without the grip (requiring an alternative for the batteries) and without the built-it flash, thus making the entire package a tad smaller. If Pentax would reintroduce the full KAF mount we could again use the aperture ring and only one dial (for shutter speed) would be enough on the body. With a pancake lens that would make a much slimmer setup than the *ist series. But of course that will never happen, since the full KAF mount won't come back, a DSLR without build-in flash won't sell and they probably won't find sufficient place to put the batteries if there's no grip...
But, if it's small enough and it's not based around the Sony 10MP CCD, but around a new (Samsung) CMOS, perhaps I could still be persuaded to get this as a little back-up camera to tuck away in the corner of a bag... Preferably smaller than the *istDS, not in absolute volume but in distribution of that volume over the body...
