New Vista Codec for Vista (K20D) released

Just found and installed the new codec for K20D and probably the K200D. Works great.

????&?????PENTAX

Follow the link, download and install. Enjoy.

Thanks for the link, I'm getting a new laptop on Friday (hope hope) and for sure it has Vista. This will be cool as the laptop also has a SD card reader built in. Direct from camera to 'puter.

The codec and PPB/PPL updates to v3.51 are available at the US site also.

I checked out the *ist Ds page and both v3.51 and the codec are available. Interesting note: the copyright is Hoya - not Pentax. Not unexpected, but still a bit interesting that the Hoya name is becoming more prominent.

(I tried the new codec at work and it works fine - faster than the old on K10D PEF images) I have not checked the Microsoft site yet to see if they have it.

*cry* My 64bit Vista is lonely. Here's hoping they release support, maybe then I'll actually shoot PEFs.

How about you x64 Vista guys start writing Pentax --- er Hoya and hitting up Ned to see what the demand is. I would imagine that the code should be reasonably portable - but maybe they just do not know the demand?

I would join in, but the I would have to buy a x64 system - which would not really be a bad thing, but the wife would be giving me that "look".

Make sure the computer slot is SDHC compatible. Some only read SD (mine). Bummer.

I'm of the understanding it's usually drivers.

Have you tried either this (XP):

Hotfix for Windows XP that adds support for SDHC cards that have a capacity of more than 4 GB

Or this (Vista)

Availability of the Windows Vista Secure Digital (SD) rollup package

I'm of the understanding that Vista SP1 contains that fix.

I installed SP1 on my computer, but didn't check the compatibility of SDHC cards after. I'll verify the compatibility later on. Thanks for the info.

Same problem here. It doesn't look like many companies are taking 64-bit seriously :-( Which is a shame.
