The problem with linking to Flickr is that we lose EXIF data.
What settings did you use? (shutter speed & aperture)
ISO160 f/2.8 1/200s @140mm

Can we se other test shots ? This lens is not intended to do macro shots...
How did you hade the opportunity to test the pre-production version ?

Websize without bigger version and iso 4000 and shallow deph of field are not going to give any information about sharpness...

The two images having followed the same treatment, i can confirm yes, to a sufficient extend to be noticable here.
But i reckon noise treatment in the girl shot may interfere.

A pre-production model, when they set back the release date was that anything to do with how these models turned out or is this the version that's likely to be produced?

No, hopefully, or this would mean they cannot cope with their current r&d ressource, which would be worst.

Someone over in the German DSLR-Forum mentioned that a Pentax representative told him it's going to be released within the next two weeks. Maybe kenspo can make a hint as to the accuracy of this rumour

Well, if your great aunt made it into Ricoh Imaging "Ambassadors" list, she might know something...

Whatever, I just hope that when it will be released, that it will be a "perfect" lens to meet all expectations, and will be the BEST Pentax lens ever to be able to compete against and ideally overclass the current Canikon lenses

I'm curious about what improvements Ricoh made to the 70-200 during the additional delay in the release of this lens.

Hopefully they improved sharpness on the long end at F/2.8 and AF speed/accuracy.
