That 150-450 is the boy for me! As for the 70-200 mm, I'll stick with my 60-250 mm for the time being (love that lens!) until the FF comes out, that is!

That 150-450 goes directly against Canon's new 100-400mm L mkII which is getting serious praise. Kudos to Pentax for going after the king of the hill

Can't complain about their looks!
+1 those are both very nice looking chunks of gear.

And do they have the focus ring in the rear?? I did not notice that on the earlier pictures.

Let's hope that IQ will be better, given it's 3x zoom, not 4x!

Can anyone understand the lens ring colour policy now in Ricoh? It is all over the place.

Just in time as was switching to Nikon...the 150-450 has to have OS ,as in body SR is not good for long lenses,so if a FF comes ,sure it will have body SR. If HD * type then $1500-2000 or so is a fair price, just hope they come to market in the next few weeks!!

The most recent lens, 16-85 was priced just like the canon and nikon equivalents at release. The new 100-400L II sells for $2200, so the $1500-2000 pricepoint will probably only happen after a few months.

Gold front ring = 'star' lens
Green rear ring = SMC coating
Red rear ring = HD coating
Green front ring no rear ring = SMC consumer lens
Red front ring no rear ring = HD consumer lens

So why a star lens has a green ring with supposedly HD coatings is, well a mystery. Perhaps all the complaints from Pentax Forums caused them to change

I think step by step green ring for DFA, and Red Ring for APS-C only. Gold ring for high quality, and white ring for medium format.

Ok, honestly, those rings have been bugging me ever since these images came to light. Ever since ricoh re-released the limiteds and 55-300 with HD coating they've used red on their roadmap to indicate HD (including the 150-450) and gold to indicate star lenses (including the 70-200).

While I can see green for the 70-200 to keep visual branding with the existing star lenses, the green 150-450 feels like a step backwards in terms of the branding they're creating for their higher-tier products. maybe they're just using green in some early pre-production shots to hide a potential other color for DFA lenses.

Or maybe I'm just barking mad, a distinct possibility.

Edit: also, the red rings showed up on the prototypes at Photokina but disappeared on the CES press shots. Weird.

I'm all about the green. I think it's distinctive. I think red was/is a mistake. (I know, Kunzite, Canon has like 2 green-ringed DO lenses...)

Does the 70-200 look like an internal zoom design to anyone else? Seems like the hood attaches directly to the barrel, with no seam between sections.

Very handsome lenses. Very Pentax. The green stripe is very Pentax too. Loving the return of the green.
