Does the 70-200 look like an internal zoom design to anyone else? Seems like the hood attaches directly to the barrel, with no seam between sections.
It would be very odd for the 70-200 to not be an internal zoom, considering every competing lens of that same focal range is internal zoom.

Pentaxians are a skeptical lot after all the years of waiting in vain. It appears that this is finally the year.

I am sure once everything is official, you will get to take your place alongside "asahi man" as a provider of trusted information. I think we grilled him too until his "predictions" proved correct

However, most of us appreciate the info you provided, there are always a few on here that will never be pleased!

Exciting times!

not your fault good sir, but we're really thankful for you coming here. Dispelled a lot of negative energy floating around, and now we have this countdown going on. Pentax is surely making a great comeback!

As much as I love my 60-250mm my Canon EF 70-200mm MKII 2.8 IS walks all over it at f2.8 and f4.
I find that hard to believe. The 60-250 I had was pretty nice.

he stated at f2.8, the 60-250 starts at f4. so no wonder the canon walks over it. Its apples and pears

Exactly my point, the Canon is f2.8 and double the price of the 60-250mm .. it's a pointless comparison.

Don't worry, the D FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 will also be double the price of the DA* 60-250mm f/4.

If I read it correctly he say f/2.8 AND f/4... But honestly without trying to be offensive to anybody, I would first try to get the info from tests, see a lot of sample image of both if I had to compare. Hopefully, I don't need to do that.

It's odd to me, because I know a couple of people who prefer the Canon 70-200 f4 to the f2.8 version, saying they think the image quality is better with the f4 version and they don't need the faster aperture. I can't say I have used either and it sounded odd to me, because usually a faster lens will be better stopped down than a slower lens wide open.

Interesting. It's a similar story with the Nikon 70-200 f4 vs their 70-200 f2.8. The Nikon f4 is not only a sharper lens (according to DxO, and many users), but it's also lighter, more compact, and more than $1000 cheaper.

Its really NOT. Not in real life, which often tells the truth better then DxO. I used Nikon professionally for many years before signing for Pentax.
