Its really NOT. Not in real life, which often tells the truth better then DxO.
OK, sorry I don't want to get you angry, esp over boring old Nikon stuff.
I've personally only used the f4 once. It's sharper at most focal lengths than my 70-200 f2.8 VR1 is all I can say.

Hehe, i hardly ever get angry Sharpness also depends on the conditions you are working under. I do most of my work in extreme situations. In good light, at least outdoors, you hardly see big difference in any lense.

Interesting. It's a similar story with the Nikon 70-200 f4 vs their 70-200 f2.8. The Nikon f4 is not only a sharper lens (according to DxO, and many users), but it's also lighter, more compact, and more than $1000 cheaper.
I bought the Nikon 70-200 f4 because it's so much lighter than the f2.8 (I used to have the excellent AF-S 80-200 mm f2.8, but I didn't like its weight, so never took it anywhere). It's plenty sharp enough for my, admittedly amateur, needs.

Don't worry, the D FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 will also be double the price of the DA* 60-250mm f/4.
Last year we talked about the price for Europe.
We came to the level of little more than 2000€ for the 2.8 and maybe 2500 for the big one.
I think it's fair and realistic.
Extreme wr,HD coating, great body quality, loved heavy and great image quality because of no is and newest glass :-)
But this was last year,we will see in a couple of hours what's the result.
Best regards

Looks like HD coating is going to be called SMC and why couldn't they leak a bit larger pics so we can read what's written around the switches?

Pentax makes some very sexy looking lenses and these certainly fall into that camp. I'm not sure I have a need for either, but I'm happy that Pentax seem to be finally showing their hand and FF seems to be imminent. Let's hope these are a huge hit and worth the wait

As I said, I'm not sure I have a 'need' for them, but since when has LBA and 'need' had anything in common?

Correct. For facts, a bit more than 9 hours and 20 minutes of patience are requested.

Any information about the in lens motor on these new lenses? Old micromotor tech or something better?

I did, too, before ...

I understand that in some situations it's required, but two things mitigate this:

1-f4 at 250mm has a shallower DOF than f2.8 at 200mm

2-modern ISO performances mean that it's now possible, easily, to use f4 at moments where you would have needed f2.8 a few years ago

also, the 60-250 AF is said to be too slow for action shots. I haven't had one but that's been agreed on, in other threads.
I own one and disagree with this. But then again, I'm a believer that gear should not exist to overcome bad technique.

And not the best opinion as though you cant read the switches they appear three way

So if I was hazarding an opinion woudl be more inclined they define sports modes rather than AF limits

Though the 150-450 does appear to have a zoom lock as well
