Using pictures that have been over sharpened in post tells you nothing about the lens. It make the bokeh look bad and adds white halos to the image.

Thanks for the link. Interesting about the AF being hit or miss, but I'm going to chalk that up to user error

The shot of the flowers at 200mm F2.8 seems a bit front focused. The 170mm F2.8 is relatively sharp, definitely way less bloomy than my Tamron 70-200 under the same conditions. The swan shot also appears a little mis-focused, not sure. The reflection is sharper than the swan itself.

The close focus shot at F4 of the flower is pretty damn good.

Only thing beside good image quality im looking for in this lens is autofocus speed and accuracy. I hope this review isnt correct in saying it doesnt match the speeds of other manufacturers. Not all ricoh/pentax users shoot still landscapes you know! ;(

Sweet mother of god, look at those graph bars go through the roof. This lens seems to be made out of Otus-es, it sure weights like one...

I find myself at a point where I find review sites less helpful. All I want to see is in focus sample photos with the exif info, that's all I really need to judge a lens.

That comment in the review was a bit silly. Like successfully shooting 'erratic, moving and difficult targets' was ever the responsibility of just the lens. Camera used, AF settings used, the experience of the user - all count for more.

Anyway, I thought the 70-200 was still at the 'pre-release' stage. If so, they should have noted that in their review.

I am nitpicking from the review, because the charts at 5.6 70mm at centre are unlike any other lens. Seems to be fairly avg at 135, 200mm.

However I do need a 70-200mm for sports, if it isnt as fast as other manufacturers does that mean its slow?

Here's a quick MTF comparison between the D-FA*70-200mm f2.8 and the Tamron SP 70-200 f2.8 Di VC USD (newest model, not available in Pentax mount)

1500, to 2500... extra thousand dollars. Infinity to focus is 0.6 sec, canon is 0.5 I wonder what the new pentax is.

Oh dear, the side by side charts are not flattering for the Pentax .....

simplify from the chart comparsion, pentax is the best. Now the rating hangs on the autofocus speed... It might need the new k3ii or ff to defend!

What I measured from one of videos available, it's 0.5 s

Care about the different scale for the Sigma. The lack of quality at f22 make me to suspect that it has been tested on APS-C (obvious) when the two other have been tested on FF.
That's will also affect the edges that are of course good on an APS-C for the Pentax.

So it's better than the Tamron on it's sweet spot (f5.6-f8) but behind fully open. It's better than the Sigma everywhere but at max magnification where it is similar.

Maybe you should re-scale the Sigma graphs to have a real side by side comparison.
