Hopefully they improved sharpness on the long end at F/2.8 and AF speed/accuracy.
It may be just some technical issues : when you start a lens production, the tolerancing of your lenses is not achieved and you have some lenses that do not pass the optical tests. They may be fine tuning the process to have homogeneous results. Honnestly I doubt that they will change the optical design now for a lens to be released in 3 months. Lens design takes around 1-3 years...
Regarding AF, improvement is still possible

Most likely, its because they wanna test it good on a FF before releasing it 100%.

They are cutting their test program a bit fine then.

If they plan to release a pro-grade FF in the next couple months, they should have (IMHO) already put it in the hands of pros who can test it out in the field, from the volcanoes of Kamchatka to the catwalks of Milan. Not do field tests only a month or two from release ...

My deal with Ricoh/Pentax is not to mainly test new gear, but show the other pro's that Pentax is back for real. IF that made sense...But i still get the gear before it hits the shops

I think Asahiman was testing it at least a month ago. He finished a dpr post saying that he had to go test a lens with a star on it.

We'll have to find out if this new wide aperture zoom is optically different or not from the recently announced/to be released soon Tokina one
Surprisingly, there's no thread for it yet

I think the 24-70 will be a Pentax/Ricoh developed lens. The Large aperture Wide angle (15-30) Will probably a Tamron in Pentax skin.

If it's a rebranded Tamron 15-30 f/2.8, that'd be nice - seems to be a great lens. Pentax would add some weather sealing and we'd have a terrific lens. Only not being able to use filters would be a bummer.

I wonder if they would license the formula, manufacture their own barrels and assemble it themselves.
