Japanese retailers are still showing availability as autumn. The specific sites I'm looking at are normally very good at keeping their information up to date.

so, kenspro, I have a question... is the image circle on the new lenses bigger than the image circle on the old FAs, to make up for Shake Reduction? and if so will, the older FAs going to need to be used without SR to aviod vignetting?

The 150-450 is one of those new D FA lenses. Maybe one of the existing users here could answer that question. I suspect the image circle is identical to previous full-frame lenses.

And from what I can tell, A7II users who mount Pentax FA's (and similar) seem to report few vignetting problems due to Sony's shake-reduction when those lenses are used via E-mount to K adapters.

Other evidence, as in the patent papers for the 70-200 suggested the image circle appeared to be a little larger than it needed to be, although without know how large it needed to be to avoid vignetting, we were really just guessing.

Vignetting or not depends on your requirements:

- You may or may not notice a loss of resolution.
- You may or may not notice some darkening.
- You may or may not be satisfied with the image you get
after correcting for darkening in the corners.

This will not be necessary - but if it should be for a particular lens (what follows is purely SPECULATIVE):

What's to keep them from offering a selectable VERY SLIGHT IBIS CROP wherever it is necessary for a legacy (or even current) FA lens? Didn't someone suggest last spring part of the long development period after the initial announcement is to 'test' and 'tune' the camera algorithms for the FA lenses? ~~Recognizing how many potential customers already own legacy FA lenses, perhaps they're building a (switchable) in-camera ROM database of lens crop factors.~~

To be honest, they might as well let the user select the crop mode. 1.5, 1.4, 1.3, 1.2, 1.1, no crop => everyone is happy.

None that has been reported.

Why would it be different with Pentax legacy lenses?

I'm guessing that most serious (i.e., those who would be willing to plunk down cash for an FF camera) do at least some PP already, so one solution would be to do your own minor cropping as part of the PP workflow.
