Manual focus lens users on digital cameras other than MF (including adapted MILC cameras) are clearly a niche group within the larger dSLR market (though we could be relatively important to Pentax). I think there are at least two classes of manual focus lens users; economy-minded and enthusiasts. The economy-minded subset is unlikely to buy an expensive FF camera to mount a $40 lens. OTOH, a certain group of MF enthusiasts might ADD the FF to their bags for the obvious reasons.

Of course the questions will be: just how large the enthusiast group really is; just how many traditional AF users will upgrade; and just how many new users will try the brand. My guess is the enthusiast manual focus lens group (especially those shooting non-A lenses who would appreciate an aperture sensing coupler) is - well - tiny.

A lot of Pentax users (even not that old) have some K or M lenses and recent DA / DFA / FA lenses. I would definitely have use for an aperture coupler for my M 100 macro and my Ricoh 50 F1.4 and I'm not a manual focus enthusiast.

Speaking of the new 70-200/2.8, I tried the pre-prod model and it's really, really heavy. I'm ok to carry a DA560 for wildlife but not sure I would want to carry such a lens when shooting portraits.

Oh dear. They've just announced another delay.

news.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/rim_info/2015/20151113_009888.

Something about needing more time to meet the required standards of performance.

Must be Friday 13th ...

Yes. They still need to fine-tune it to work flawless with the FF. The FF is 100% finished, so they can now test it properly with lenses. They won't release it before it works flawless with the FF. Shouldn't take more then 1-2 months anyway. It MIGHT still come before christmas, or just after.

Kenspo although it is somewhat irrelevant with this thread do you have any clue whether Pentax plans include something like a 600mm/F4 in near future?

Ahah ! Maybe not the first priority for the FF line up no? Let me say I would ask first for 24,35,50, 85, 135,200, 300,400mm primes for some with different max appertures and price/size/finish (ltd...). Also a 15-30, 24-85 kit lens, 24-105 f/4, 70-300 f/3.5-5.6 in addition to the 70-200, 24-70 and 150-450.

I know a few primes will be released in 2016..But didn't see that one on the list. But that doesn't mean that its not in their plans. Cause i dont know everything they are looking at :P

Thanks for the relpy!

@Nicolas06 I agree that there might be other more desired by more people lenses that are Ricoh priorities, but each one of us is mainly interested in lenses that fit our photographic needs and I would love a handholdable 600mm bright lens if I could afford it (and I know it will be expensive when it comes, as all pro high quality teles from other brands).

Hmm. Looks like they are serious about making three product generation improvements in their AF implementation. That is what is needed to be a bit better than the competition.

I want one. Of each.

nothing new, that date was already mentioned a few months ago by B&H, look elsewhere on this forum. Just wait and see, better a very good product then a mediocre one.

D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 Release Date Set - Pentax Announcements | PentaxForums.com

I wonder if the "improvements" can change the MSRP?

Since I pre-ordered it, do you think that my local store can say: OK, now the price have changed, it's $$$ more now if you still want it ?
