Pentax-09 Telephoto Macro: 20mm f/2.8?

At least according to this patent spotted by Egami:

Ricoh 18mm F2.8 Macro(1/1.7")?????????????So-net???

Y=5.00mm means that the radius of the image circle equals 5mm. It's therefore suited for a 1/1.7" sensor (diameter = 9.5mm).

The angle of view of such a lens on a Pentax Q7/Q-S1 would be that of a 90mm on a 24x36 camera.

I think a lot of Q-ers were waiting for this one! Looks like a complex design, too. This will make the Q much more tempting to advanced shooters

This is the lens I am waiting for.

Unless it costs a BOMB!

If its the price of a DA100WR, and optically as good, its well worth the money.

DFA 100WR is a stunning macro lens on the Q when used with the Pentax adapter.

Only reason to get this for me would be AF and size.

However: for Macro, AF isnt really a requirement and in the field you are carrying a tripod and flash with diffuser so compactness isnt a priority.

Size will be the reason. The 06 is so good I doubt it will compete as a general purpose telephoto.

And flash sync.
Whats the flash sync for native lenses?
Iirc, its 1/1000.
Useful for Daytime macros.
AF is always a plus , for fast work and when less closeup is needed (I doubt af works well when very close with the high mag)

Smaller also means portability and better hand hold stabilty.

I am really keen if they release this.

But on 2nd thoughts, 20mm is too near working distance and maybe too little magnification.

Does the patent actually say anything about maximum macro magnification ratio?

On the other hand, a patent does not a lens make, and I thought I'd read recently that the Q macro telephoto lens had been put on indefinite hold?

If its a macro it will probably be a high quality lens overall, no? In the DSLR world at least, macro primes deliver top notch quality.

I know that Pentax have a lot on their plate lens development wise what with the announcement of FF but I am slightly surprised that this macro has taken so long to get anywhere. And it's still not been officially unveiled.

You'd think that CP+ would have been a good time to announce a macro for availability in April (spring in the Northern Hemisphere).

Flash sync is the same if you use the Pentax adapter with leaf shutter.

Is that the reason the adapter costs so much? That could certainly cause me to reconsider buying it

The adapter is well engineered with a leaf shutter and a reduction geared aperture control.

90mm macro at 24X36 seams OK. I think a macro takes time to develop, specially then it´s so short focal length and to get as low distortion as possibly.
I hope it come a autofocus K adapter later.
A new Q series of fast lenses would be nice too. Q7 and coming Q cameras are not so good at high iso, but a normal with f1 and wide primes at f1,2 or 1,4 would make Q cameras better in low lights.
