That is an absolute "mis"-statement !
And why would those lenses not be "important" ?
You might not want either of them but you have to admit that this will be a great hit for others looking into that sort of gear.

Agreed...they must avoid sdm failure, decentering issues, limited price without limited image quality (poke at the 20-40)....chortle /smirk.

Indeed. A very handy range on FF, even better on crop.
And even better on the Q7 - 2115mm! Oh Pentax please make a K-Q adapter with AF!

I hope it means Pentax has engineered some super hybrid stabilization that gives you like 10 stops when using a lens with OS, or else the ****storm that'll ensue if the long-awaited FF has no IBIS will be biblical.
Yep, that's what I'm thinking too.

I think these are not the final designs. Green ring denotes DA, DFA has silver ring. i.e. DFA 50/100 Macro.

Gold ring has designated 'star' lenses at least on the F and DA series. I don't think the FA series had rings, but I don't have any so I'm not sure.

Green rings were SMC coatings. Red rings were added with the HD coatings. So since it is a star lens, the gold ring makes sense. But since it has HD coating, the green ring is confusing. Either they changed back to green because of all the complaints on Pentax Forums, or it is just pre-production and will get a red ring on release.

Tamron or Sigma 150-600 sounds more attractive in this kind of price.
Too bad neither will be coming out for Pentax.

OS on them Does this mean what I think it means? Will there be wailing and gnashing of teeth?
In body stabilization is wonderful, with two exceptions...
1) It's not nearly as good as in-lens stabilization for long focal lengths. (like on these two lenses)
2) It fails pretty hard for panning shots.

Since a 150-450 is going to have a multitude of use among sports and wildlife photographers, it makes sense that the stabilization be in-lens because it's going to get used in a lot of panning shots. The fact that it will just work better is bonus.

One would think that sensor stabilization should work well with higher focal lengths for a full-frame sensor based on "equivalent focal lengths," but then again, the pixels are quite a bit larger. Perhaps that is why they've introduced in-lens stabilization for these lenses.

hmm with a variable aperture makes this lens looks like a less appealing alternative to the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX DG. We will have to wait for an optical comparison.
