set it to Av or TAv mode f/5.6.. instant fixed aperture lens.
A fixed aperture - that is one stop slower than the 100-300mm f/4. A stop makes a big difference when you use flash, which is pretty much mandatory for some wildlife subjects.

Pentax K10D - Sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX DG @ f/4 ISO200 1/180th - Wireless AF540FGZ with Honl 1/4th CTO filter.

Interesting to note the green rings are back in these images as well as the new 18-55
I would rather have a green ring then a red one in the wild. Red doesn't go well with wild life... It does make the 150-450 look more like a consumer zoom, also with the variable aperture. The fact that it's DFA and the size spell no compromise however. I'm hoping internal zoom but probably not. Price will tell it all I guess, i.e. as to what is the intended market...

Exciting!!

Wim

True, but for the 100-300 to offer the same range as the 150-450 would require adding a 1.4x tele converter, reducing the aperture to f/5.6 over the entire range and possibly compromising IQ.
This 150-450 has a larger widest open aperture at the lower end of the range and will offer 450mm as designed.

Agree, nothing controversial about those, just looks like solid engineering. Now we wait for a test of the optics. Asahi Man posted elsewhere AF motor will be "Ring SDM"??

Does not mean they do not have a mirrorless at a later time, but dslr is the safe bet for this.

I thought you didn't like it when Pentax kept making lenses in that range... or that was your mood at least with the HD 16-85. But if Pentax does come up with a digital 135, they're bound to release a 2(x)-7(x) kit zoom for it.

It's silly to compare mediocre APS-C slow zoom and fast FF zoom. If you have a look at my line of lenses, you could easy to understand that I like this range.

Well, I expect more leaks in the coming 14 hours anyway. Maybe you can put a little more fuel to the fire

I don't want your head, I want information

You won't tell anything about the coming FF anyway so maybe you can tell us if the midlevel camera with WiFi and tilting back LCD (as shown behind glass in Las Vegas) is bound to be announced in the coming days?
