I would rather have a green ring then a red one in the wild. Red doesn't go well with wild life... It does make the 150-450 look more like a consumer zoom, also with the variable aperture. The fact that it's DFA and the size spell no compromise however. I'm hoping internal zoom but probably not. Price will tell it all I guess, i.e. as to what is the intended market...

True, but for the 100-300 to offer the same range as the 150-450 would require adding a 1.4x tele converter, reducing the aperture to f/5.6 over the entire range and possibly compromising IQ.
This 150-450 has a larger widest open aperture at the lower end of the range and will offer 450mm as designed.
