FFeatured countdown

Okay, since no one else seems to want to start a thread on what the mysterious FFeatured Countdown timer is on the PF homepage I'm going to start one.

Based on the current countdown the count ends at February 4, 2015 at 2:00PM (PST).

Is it FF for Full Frame?

Or something less exciting?

I'm pretty sure FF stands for the new manual-Focus Fifty to be announced at CP+. Adam's just trying to throw us off the scent.

I have not seen anything official regarding the 70-200 but it seems since we have a timer there is something rock solid?

Rumor has it on the 5th of February Ricoh will announce the dfa 70-200. Which in most people's minds preludes the release of the FF body. That is my hope at least. The 12th can't get here fast enough.

No conspiracies. Adam had too much coffee this morning and double-tapped the F key.

I'll tell you what though, all this full frame speculation it is a great time to be someone who is staying crop sensor. The market here is flooded with great crop sensor glass for cheap. Lol

It would be one heck of a cruel joke if it was anything other than a countdown to a FF-related announcement. Just announcing the FF 70-200 lens doesn't seem worth the effort - I'm guessing it's the big one.

But releasing the lens would be a FF related announcement

That was my thinking too on this... not that I wouldn't want a FF system and hopefully, God willing, will get one eventually. Price is the limiting factor for me though. And prices will only go down in time.

For the next few years, at least, I suspect I will stay with APS-C and thus look forward to the potential deals with people unloading APS-C specific lenses for cheapish.

However, that is unless they keep them for the crop mode on the FF body.. and plus they will want top dollar to fill in the difference in price from the FF system. Also, I think there are a lot more spendshy folk in the APS-C camp as is.. so it might not be an incredible buyers market. Do look forward to watching it play out regardless.

Yeah, from what Photo Rumors is already saying and what has been talking about in DPR for the last couple of days, 2 new FF lenses will release tomorrow....but.....when there is smoke there is fire......does that mean that they will also release the FF body at the same time ? I would suspect yes because why release 2 FF lenses unless you plan on releasing a FF body to go with it. I heard it is in the K-3 form factor, which is a good thing, with many additional improvements. We will know in give or take in 16 and 1/2 hours.
