I suddenly had a chance to test the lens yesterday (thanks to Kenspro) and made a small web site with a couple of images: Pentax D-FA 15--450mm | Dag Thrane

Somehow the EXIF data disappeared but I´ll look into that and add some more pictures.
Is the image of the cat's eye 1:1 of the previous image? The sharpness and resolution looks great! Other than that I'm most curious about the time to focus compared to the DA*300 and the operation of the focus limiter. Were you using the lens on a tripod?

Yes, the cats eye is 1:1.

Postprocessing has been done using the curve tool in the RAW converter, but no sharpening.

Thanks for the examples. I'm curious about the exif and any post processing done, crops etc. Definitely not razor sharp, but results with long lenses are often technique dependent, and experience with the lens over a few months to find the sweet spots.
Yes, and of course you should take into account that I have only had it for one day now, but I think it is reasonably sharp.

OK, thanks. In that case the sharpness looks impressive! I took a few photos today with my DA55-300 after using the DA*300 a lot of the last couple of months and the former looks very soft now.

630mm @ f/8 pretty darn good I think. What was the distance if you remember? And is this cropped?

Good light of course, which helps but still, 630mm and you can see the feather detail.......

Any chance you can post a RAW of this?

I'm guessing this is way better than I get with my A-400 and 1.4... but ti's hard to tell.

Focussing was surprisingly good at that aperture.

Not cropped but I did not note the exact distance.
Iḿ not sure about RAW, as I¨m not sure how on this forum. I even got warnings for linking to the examples on my web page :-)

For the RAWs, if you send it to me by e-mail, I can upload them on my website and put the link here.

I think it's a bit confusing to see these pictures taken with the A-400 on this thread without explanation, maybe you could specify that they were not produced by the new lens ?

1. Apologies. These were not produced by an AF lens. They were intended for another thread.
2. Basically, age, senility, and trifocals have crept over me and eventually one thread becomes the same after a while.
3. I only have a push mower.
4. It's confusing to me as well.
5. I'll leave quietly and go to time out.

ok, no problem (and sorry if I upset you, I didn't mean it) !

So DagT had the time to put some RAWs on DropBox (he will put the link here soon I guess), thanks !
The cat is fine, the seagull less, but looking at he exifs (1/400 - ISO100 - f5.6 for the cat & 1/320 - ISO100 - f8 for the seagull) IMHO the results would be better with a shorter shutter speed and higher ISO.
