No; zooming is a fully manual process, there's no circuitry involved. Resetting requires a hammer, and that'll void the warrany I'm sure
Is the zoom lock button in the unlocked postion? Maybe it somehow closed the lock preventing you to zoom out to 150. I would try if you can move it back and forth.

The zoom lock button can only be in the locked position when the focal length is at 150mm. At any other focal length, it is impossible to get it out of the unlocked position even by a hair. It's a really well-engineered piece of kit. Well, except for this little snag . Interestingly, in Adrian's case zooming out is limited to the same focal length as in my case (~180 mm). Surely, this will eventually turn out to be a clue as to the nature of the malfunction, and makes me think it's not just a matter of the weather sealing coming loose. We'll know soon enough, I hope (does the official repair service generally report back about the nature of a malfunction, or do they simply return a repaired item without commenting?)

SO guys... how is the auto-focus? Is there anything predictive or is it still focus and grab?
I think the lens relies on the camera body do predictive AF-C, AF-S etc. Unless they have integrated an AF sensor into the lens . (Pentax have done it before, of course, like the zoom the ME-F came with).

Ouch, that sucks (though TBH it's comforting to know I'm not the only one).

Looks like it's only one gasket that's in contact with the barrel, though:

All the other ones are at junctions between different parts.

besides AF limiter the lens has an AF preset mode which remembers previous focal points, but does not work on K5II,unless FW gets upgraded

Because of its height, shorter or smaller people may find this LONG case awkward mounted on a belt.
OK, that made my day.

It's an interesting thought. Maybe they are having issues with some of the components that both lenses may share. Or with the factory in Vietnam where they are both assembled.

More rich fuel for speculation!

Do we have any updates concerning the zoom retracting problem? Does anyone else faced it? Is it an easily fixed issue? If someone took it for service, I would like to know his experience since I'm considering of buying the zoom next week for a special event.

I don't want to be disappointed because its an expensive lens and although I'm sure I want it may be I have to stay with the bigma and see whats the problem and how Pentax will address it...

Any feedback is very much appreciated!

Mine is under repair; the shop advised me not to expect it back for one to two months at least.

When my Sigma 50-500mm OS went back for repair it was gone for nearly 3 months so Pentax is actually faster.

Personally after using my 150-450mm for a week or two now I wouldn't go back to the Sigma no matter how much I loved it.

Nice! I appreciate the thought! Good to know someone thinks of me without cursing me and my squirrels!

I am still on the fence on what new long zoom to buy. My old Sigma early model is still excellent in every way for my needs, but I have some cash itching in my pocket and want to upgrade. I am not thrilled to hear of the sticking zoom, but it is not a deal killer, things happen...but the turnaround time needs to be better on a new high end product. Pentax should require them to give much faster service on a new model.

I'd like to see more Pentax examples posted here, it would help a lot to see some more various types of shots. I'm in no big hurry....unlike Otis, that will only relax for so long until I fill his feeder or he goes loco!

Best Regards!

Saying that, my favourite squirrel shot I have taken was with the 55-300mm so the lens means little really.
