What is the shipping time for new DFA zooms?
In the European webstore initially 23/3 was mentioned, but that was removed later on. My B&M shop was in contact with Ricoh here in Belgium and they indicated somewhere half March.

The focus sensors are in the camera so the lens definitely needs to communicate with the house.
What I envisaged was that when the "Preset" button on the lens was pressed, the lens would remember its current focus setting. Then when you press one of the AF buttons round the lens, if the lens was set to "Preset Mode" it would reset itself to the focus setting previously preset.

well i was checking the European webstore and the had this mentioned:
Optional accessories
Lens Hood: PH-RBA86
Lens Cap: O-LC86
Lens Case: HS120-270

its seems that what you expect with such a lens its not included and cost you extra (hood is €49)

Think i'll wait a while

It does also list under Kit Content: Hood, Lens cap, Mount cap, Lens Case, Tripod Mount

So I wouldn't worry. This will be included. It's normal that the items are offered separately as well though. I for one once lost the hood of my DA*16-50, so I was happy to be able to buy a replacement hood.

Nikon 80-400 Vs Pentax 150-450

I see Nikon dropped the price of the 80-400 to $2300, which is the same as the Pentax will sell for. Can anyone see from the MFT charts how these 2 compare? I know the Nikon should be one of the best out there, so curious how it holds up against the new Pentax
Thanks

The FA*250-600mm f/5.6 ED [IF] was one of the BEST long zooms ever built, and I can't see how the new NON * lens can get to that. The new * 70-200 may be a game changer for Pentax and I think it will out sell most of the other Pentax lenses, It should be a awesome Sports lens for Family's wanting to take photo's of there children.
Just My 50 cents
Thanks

What is this lens missing that keeps it from a star designation? Is it the high f numbers?

It appears the variable aperture is what holds it back. There has never been a variable aperture zoom to get the * designation.

I would not infer too much into that. Pentax generally officers spare hoods, caps and pouches for their lenses.

Don't worry for the hood and other accessories, it's listed on the differents Ricoh stores in the "What's in the box?" tab:
- Lens Cap O-LC86
- Rear Lens Cap B
- Lens Case HS120-270
- Lens Hood PH-RBA86
- Tripod Mount O-TM80

Well, it seems that the only thing missing is the lens itself - no big deal ! ^^

Well, I couldn't have lifted it, anyway.

Oh, come on! It's so obvious the lens won't come in the box - it's too big, and too heavy. You're not supposed to lift&carry it, but roll it home

If the 100 mm f/2.8 DFA macro is anything to go by, the lack of a * on the new zoom isn't anything to be concerned about. It's a high quality lens aimed at professionals, I am certain of that.

yeah, it doesn't have a focus limiter - focus hunting is very professional.
