About this thread right here ...: lots of new images taken with this lens.

Pages 15 - 16. I think by timautin.

you know that the price is 2500$ / 2200€, right ?
At today's exchange rate, plus 3% added by the payment processor for currency exchange, the final price for normhead in Canadian dollars is anywhere from $3050 to $3300.

You would still pay GST but you could save 8% PST by ordering it from McBains or The Camera Store in Alberta.

Even so this is still cheaper than importing it from Europe (after you pay GST to CBSA) and almost $400 cheaper than buying from B&H or Adorama.

Henry's always has sales, and if you've bought a lot of stuff from them, phone their "Professional Support" people, they'll either price match or come up with an even better deal for , maybe not on the pre-order. Given the "higher prices" you wouldn't believe how many times I've shopped around and ended up buying at Henry's. Or been burned by shopping around and losing out on the Henry's price because other people didn't have what they advertised in stock and in the end, couldn't get it from Pentax.

The french Ricoh store now says that the 150-450 (and the 70-200) will be shipped as soon as it is in stock (previously they said it will be available from the 23rd of march).
It seems we may have to wait a little more...

I noticed the same on the "Belgian store". Actually all European web stores are the same website with just a parameter indicating the country.

I've requested my B&M store to pre-order the lens for me, but they don't seem to have had much news either. I'm not in a hurry, but I would like to try the lens some time in the near future, so I'll be used to it by the time I take it to Africa in the second half of 2015.

Wow. That's AUD$3,300. I wasn't expecting that much! Interesting to see the AF button on the lens itself. I think it's got a focus limiter on the side, but it isn't explained. The more I use the DA*300, the more I wish for a focus limiter!

I've read posts from those who have tested the 150-450 at CP+ stating that the side buttons are programmable, you can set them so that when you press the button the lens quickly focuses at infinity (or close distance) acting very much like a programmable focus limiter.

Canikon users wouldn't be surprised. The Nikkor AF-S 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR is about AUD $3100. Even a Canon L glass super-zoom like the Canon 28-300mm EF f/3.5-5.6L IS goes for AUD $3200. If you really want a price scare, see the price of the Canon 200-400mm F/4L or the Nikkor AF-S 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II.

In Australia the (eventual) arrival of the Sigma 150-600mm in K-mount at about $2200 will probably help moderate the local price of the Pentax 150-450. Maybe.

I notice a difference between my Sigma and Tamron lenses and my Pentax lenses. To the point where, if I can come up with the money, I'll go for the Pentax, but $3k is a lot to come up with.

True. Even if I think about amortising the buy price over the likely 20-30 year (?) life of the lens it's still a big price for an amateur.

Of course if you are a pro, it's different. I don't think anyone shooting a commissioned project for National Geographic, or doing 20 weddings a year, would worry too much about paying $3000 for a lens.
