The Rogue Safari works just fine (with an easy to do modification). See this thread:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/22-pentax-camera-field-accessories/256288...ml#post3256968

Use the 8mm spacer, push the tongue of the Safari "head" into the spacer until it is just about to protrude from the other side, then glue it in place. Works well with K-3, K-5IIS and K-5. Haven't tried others.

If you have a look at the link from Rogue that you referred to, there are a couple of photos of Lorikeets on their front page. They are my shots that I provided to the manufacturer as examples of how the Safari works on Pentax.

Great shot with the crisp details and colours!

I've just checked on this very interesting flash "extender" ... looks great !
Probably works fine with the K5 "series" I suppose ?

Edit: ooops !! Just saw from your post that it does !
Their site mention that it is not compatible with Pentax cameras but as you prove with your shots ... works great!
You wouldn't have a quick picture of your set up, would you ?

Not hard to see why! That is excellent! You have me rethinking my thoughts of a new Bigma 150-500.......not sure I really need a lens as powerful as the Pentax, but then again.....why not? I could sure make some squirrels happy!

Regards!

A few more shots of the Superb Fairy-wrens that graced my lens yesterday. The first includes a male in full breeding colours.

... and a couple more of one of my sons running a cross country race. No trouble tracking a moving target coming towards me. The first shot is at quite some distance - perhaps 80 metres, the second about 15 metres.

First is 450mm, then second is 150mm. Both at f8. Detailed crop is from the first photo at long range and 450mm - that level of detail is astonishing!

There 800g difference or if you prefer it is 67% heavier to get the 150-450 vs DA*300 + TC... But this is the conveniance of the zoom and hopefully higher quality.
OK, not sure where I got the idea that the 150-450 was lighter than 2kg. I still want one, so I guess I finally have a reason to go to the gym...

Sure is!

Now just imagine the detail on a 36MP full-frame Pentax

At AUD$3000 I'd want it to be a decent piece of glass and metal!

Great shots...but you guys don't have any squirrels down there? I can't imagine owning such a fine lens made specifically for handsome squirrels....and no squirrels to shoot!
I bet it is frustrating for you? Can I send you a box full of Newbie squirrels, I have plenty this year, so you can shoot some for us?

This little guy is only about 6 weeks old, but he is already a saying he "always wanted to visit Aussie Land"! Maybe you could shoot some of those cute little tree bears you guys have? Squirrels think they are the cutest! Me too!

Regards!........If you have a site where you are posting your shots, I'd love to have a link!
