Well, he is a really handsome little guy! My apologies about the squirrel infiltration of this thread.....I have complained and complained about the damn squirrels here, yet they remain and seem to multiply...I guess that's what squirrels do...sort of like rats, though by no means would I ever call them rats or rodents. Otis sure takes offense at that sort of language!

Still...the thread is pretty much on track....I'm still waiting to see more shots from the Pentax 150-450, and I think others are too. They will come along shortly no doubt...we've seen a few very impressive ones already.

I guess there is no good reason a squirrel or two can't look into this thread and see what kind of lens this might be for squirrel shooting?

"I'll be quiet...I just want to look around!"

Best Regards ...and thanks for the handsome squirrel shot!

A columbia ground squirrel. Nothing at all to do with the 150-450 except that I would take shots of these guys if I had one.

We are passing the time while we wait for more samples from the Pentax 150-450....some of us are seriously interested..and some are not...I guess you're not?

Meanwhile, a few squirrels are doing what they do...keeping the thread alive and interesting...well, sort of interesting!

Regards!

derekkite...That's a handsome little guy!

Shanti....Check your mail...Otis says he can fix your problem right here!

I use the high pass filter method of sharpening (Photoshop Filters > Other > High Pass). This gives more control over what I want sharpening, but I came across a handy tip a few weeks ago. That is, to denoise the high pass filter (I use Topaz) before blending with either overlay or linear light depending on how much sharpening is required. That way the original noise (or "grain" if you prefer) is retained but not sharpened. Of course, if the original picture is too noisy, one should denoise first.

Great shots...but you guys don't have any squirrels down there? I can't imagine owning such a fine lens made specifically for handsome squirrels....and no squirrels to shoot!
I bet it is frustrating for you? Can I send you a box full of Newbie squirrels, I have plenty this year, so you can shoot some for us?
No squirrels. But we do have Galahs!

Zygonyx-----I like it, a very good example of what I am looking for. What is your overall impression of the lens so far...how do you compare it to other long glass you own or have owned?

More fine shots.....Same question to you as the one above for Zygonyx. It is a shame you don't have any handsome squirrels. This little shy Newbie squirrel posed for the first time yesterday......He asked me if I could shoot him with that new Pentax long lens, and I was sad that I couldn't fulfill his request. I can either get that Pentax lens, or ship him to you where you can make him happy?

Regards! More shots will be appreciated!
