Two months + is not good. Ideally it should have been repaired much quicker, or they should have simply offered you another 150-450 to tide you over until yours got repaired.

Sigma took more than 3 months to fix my 50-500mm OS.

Finally got my 150-450 back this week after the problem with reduced zoom range it stopped at 180 at the short end, so would not close down completely and lock). Really disappointed with the amount of time this took - I put it in for repair on 21 June.
No doubt parts and to come from Japan, I had a similar experience after a tripod blew over and my 21 ltd did a face plant. The first two weeks was in the que just waiting to be looked at. Then about a month of the parts to come, it ended up being 2 months door to door.

Thanks.

I absolutely hate both tripods and monopods (although I did finally give in and buy a decent tripod and gimbal for my FA* 250-600mm a few weeks ago) so I always shoot hand held. To be honest I didn't have a problem when using the Sigma 50-500mm OS but I definitely noticed the difference weight wise the next morning with the 150-450mm, my shoulder/arm was killing me.

I tend to shoot TAv mode as well but use continuous AF with centre point ... as for shutter speed, I have to get well below 1/400 to get decent propeller blur on the aircraft.
I got a chance to try this lens at B&H during a visit to NYC. The sheer mass and size of the lens is staggering. I had considered selling my DA*300 and replacing it with this, but I'm not sure sure. This lens is just massive.

Great shots - great work
Might have to consider selling the DA*300 and Sigma 150-500 for this lens.

When this lens first came out, I posted a side-by side with the DA*300 F4, FA*300 F2.8, and the DFA150-450. It was equal or better to the F4, less CA (not much) with the FA* F2.8. My wife loves the 150-500 Siggy (OS V2) and feels it is easier to hold and operate. I got the leftovers (150-450 DFA I bought for her). I must admit the DA*300F4 now seems redundant for us. The FA*300 F2.8 (with TC's and a gimbal still goes further). I sold 3 to keep the 150-450. I feel your pain...

I sold both my Sigma 100-300mm f4 and 50-500mm OS to buy the 150-450mm.

Mind you, I have since purchased another 100-300mm f4, it would have been rude not to at the price the seller was asking.

As much as I can relate to the difficulty of letting a bargain pass, isn't there too much overlap between the 100-300/4 and the 150-450?

In other words, what are good reasons to have both lenses?

Easy question: LBA.
