Thanks everyone for comments/suggestions regarding weight. Will set that aside as a consideration now....probably can cope.

Back to looking at photo's to determine if image quality will as good (or better) than my F*300/4.5.

Quick question. I could not find this in the thread.
Does this lens do not have a separate hook for lens strap? Like that of Bigma or Canon tele lenses?
One has to get a strap that attaches to the tripod mount?

it doesn't have an extra strap hook. I found no need for it.

That's indeed how I carry it (on a BlackRapid Sport). The tripod mount has two screw holes, so it can attach both a strap and a quick release plate for mounting on a tripod without having to remove the strap attachment.

I built a military webbing belt 2.5" wide (a Molle Clip) and fittted originally a QR Manfrotto Tripod Clamp, and subsequently a Generic QR (Slide Index Arca-Swiss compatible) tripod plate on it with 1/4 -20 screws. Got all of the parts on eBay... $25USD most...Slides in fast, low on the body for upper back Happiness, QR off the mount makes it fast, military belt distributes weight. In combo I use a Mountainsmith BC GiG Fanny bag with Pack straps and a XL slide in foam insert. My Alternative is a Tamrac XL backpack or a ThinkTank shoulder bag.

Sorry for the poor photos in a rush today....

Oh well.....boat sold.....get cash in a couple of days.... 150-450 in stock in Australia now.... biggest (in all ways) lens purchase looking inevitable now....... unless someone can bring me to my senses?

My only concern is will it produce image IQ as good or better then my F*300/4.5....... this is probably as good as I can do with the F*300/4.5.....I will be buying it for the flexibility mostly

Bah. You can't use that money for anything anyways. The lens can give you years of joy

Oh well..... first couple of HD DFA 150-450 shots from my back yard. Was having problems yesterday with the lens....... it didn't play well with the canon "S" screen in my K3 (exposure issues)..... so replaced it with the original (once I found it!)..... also had trouble with back focus....... ended up at this point with +10 correction........ still doesn't quite match LV focus. Anyway.... I bought this lens because I wanted about 450mm in reach (on APSC) and the flexibility of the focus range. Any shots you see from me are just walking around and shooting..... no tripod.
