Everyone seems to be able to get decent images with this lens, that's encouraging.

And another 150-450 where all of a sudden the zoom cannot be retracted beyond 180

The third one in this thread if I am right (message #1117 by OJGoreng and message #1129 by AdrianM). The lens was less than three weeks old and had worked fine throughout the day. Then all of a sudden it will not allow me to move the zoom below 180mm.

OJGoreng, I understand from message #1177 that yours was repaired under warranty. Was the same true for you AdrianM?

[Update] Dropped the lens off at SRS Microsystems who were very helpful and sent the lens to Pentax as a warranty claim. Nine days later I picked up the lens again. It was repaired under warranty free of charge.

Just for k-1 + 150-450 : have you proceed to an AF fine ajustment ?
+4 for my k5, and for k-1 it seems that all is ok, no ajustment required

This is a reported problem as at least 2 other members had it! I can't track their posts, but it was an easy fix and didn't face any more problems after the service as I remember they had reported...

Service only...

On my copy, nothing serious, but the zoom locking button that suddendly "jumped" after a few ours use in summertime.
I was Lucky to hear the "click" noise it did, finding the litle piece straight on the walkway, together with the lilliputian rectangular scealing rubber.
Easily fixed back home, with Glue.

I had the exact same problem Gedeon and it was not something I managed to resolve myself. This seems to be a "known issue". Mine was sent back to Ricoh by the kind people of SRS Microsystems and repaired under warranty in under two two weeks.

I just got mine back from Precision. It jammed at about 180. Precision sent it to Ricoh for repair. It took about 6 weeks. Was still under warranty.

I wonder if this will be an issue for second hand versions of the lens, or if it's "if it doesn't happen in a couple months, it's not going to happen" kind of issue.

I'm affraid the second way, just because the problem doesn't appear necessarily straight from the first use.

My copy goes back to 150 with no sign of blocking.
Could we share serial numbers of our units, those working properly and those having this 180mm problem to figure out whether there is a possible batch issue ? (thinking about the K5 oily sensor for instance)
