The 50-135 is indeed no sharpness king (although it is quite sharp IMO) but it has that rendering so very few lenses show...

And how did you come to this ranking?
I own the DA 60-250, (owned) the DA 50-135mm) and have seen the pictures from the DA* 300 and 200 here, these experiences have informed the order which I rank these lenses.

I forgot to mention I own the DA* 16-50mm as well...

Although I don't own that particular lens, a few of my Pentax lenses are not the sharpest I could buy, but I feel too much emphasis is placed on pure resolution. Sharpness is important, of course, but it's only one factor, and not always the most important one: micro-contrast, suppression of CAs, flare resistance, colour rendition and bokeh need to be brought into the equation (and probably other things). Many of the greatest photographs ever taken are not particularly sharp.

I doubt we would see one. This focal length and speed is covered by zooms. The D-FA 70-200/2.8 will fill that niche.....
200/2.8's will go the way of the 400/5.6's......
DA*200/2,8 don´t have tripod mount (strange) and are a light weight lens at 825gr vs the new DFA70-200 at 1835/2030gr at another prize.
It´s different lenses for different purpose.
I guess a DFA 200/2,8 comes a little later, a little bigger because of SR, a tripod mount and a little higher DFA * standard.
If we say that DFA 200 goes for 1500€/$ and bee around 1000gr I wait 2-3 years for it to comes out, I already have Tamron 70-200...

Totally agree.
The point I was really trying to make is that the 50-135 is one of the few lenses with a very special rendering.
