Ok, I'm going to show my ignorance and ask - what does "Smartphone integration" mean?

  • 20.12 million pixel CMOS sensor (no low-pass filter)
  • Image processing engine: PRIME MII
  • Dust and water sealed in 100 places
  • Dual dial
  • Full HD video
  • 77 segment metering
  • LCD vari-angle screen
  • AF system SAFOX X. 11 AF points of which 9 are cross points (-3EV)
  • AF hold function
  • Highest ISO sensitivity: 51,200
  • In-body camera shake correction
  • Low-pass selector
  • GPS with O-GPS1 unit (sold separately)
  • View finder field of view: 100%
  • Fastest shutter speed: 1/6,000 seconds
  • Continuous shooting: 5.5 fps
  • Wi-Fi built-in
  • Smartphone Integration
Either NFC or you be able to control it without the FluCard, but just as with the Theta over Wifi.

There's an App for that!

Wi-fi allows for communicating with smartphones. Cheapest solution would be to adapt the Flu-card app to work with the K-S2's built-in Wi-fi. Put your camera on a pole and release the shutter with your phone and see LiveView on your phone's screen.

Forget the Flucard and Theta over Wifi.

THe only thing NFC is good for is connecting your smartphone to your camera's Wi-fi network (and paying for coffee and donuts, if you are willing to take the security risk).

So tethering becomes an App-based process - nice. Sorry but I thought build-in WiFi would do that anyway, so now we're going to have our K cameras interacting with out Smartphone cameras? Hmmm, perhaps they can mate and produce a Q or 2?

In half an hour, we will know. Surely this feature would be unique to the K-S2 :P

Looks like a K-S1 just without the led's......
Sealed, and with bigger grip, but yeah, basically. No K-3 AF engine or 24MP sensor. I wonder if it will have interval shooting and multi-exposure (which the K-S1 does not)...

Looks to me like the K-3 will be around for a while. Otherwise they would have migrated the sensor and/or AF module to this body.

The pentaprism housing lines are very similar (except the top front edge has a sharper angle than the K-S1), but in some ways, the body lines owe more to the K-7/5 than the K-S1. They trimmed every corner in the K-S1, creating things like the step on the rear top edge.

I'll be very surprised if the K-S2 doesn't have interval shooting and multi-exposure.

EDIT: Just read specs - YES, it lists interval shooting and multi-exposure.

"This model features a "selfie" button making it easy to capture the photographer in the shot as well."

Does it mean it has a little smartphone-like camera hidden behind the flip-screen housing that takes a photo of yourself while you shoot ? :P

Facerecognition-led in the shutterbutton most likely.

Now that's funny! If smartphones and tablets can have front and rear facing camera sensors, why not a DSLR? On the other hand, how many pictures of my nostrils do I need?
