While a physical switch is needed to have a screw drive motor in the body, it can still be there when there's no screw drive motor anymore. So that proves nothing, other than that it is possible that the camera has that.

However I have absolutely no doubt that the body will have it, it would be suicide for the model if it didn't.

With the announcement of FF for Pentax, will RICOH still produce high end apsc like K-3? Or will it be only Pentax FF with crop mode?
Ah, this FF body is not at all competing with K3, noway this is related $$$ related.
They will continue to do so, at least one or two IMO.

There's also a shutter button, but it can still be there just as a decoration. And there's no guarantee the back LCD would actually display something.

D1N0: extremely hard, it seems.

All I am saying is that if they removed the motor, they could still place the AF switch there because it's a good position and we are used to it. It's not conclusive proof that there is a switch.

I do think it is extremely unlikely that there is no motor though.

Sorry, but it doesn't make sense to me. Have something just like an AF switch just sitting there, as a decoration, because "we are used to it"?

Mh... no, functional of course, just electronic. Though now that I think about it, is that even possible? I don't have any SDM etc. lenses... does the AF switch work there, or do you have to turn it off on the lens?

Both work.

There are few APS-C DC lenses without an AF switch, but besides those you would usually turn the AF off from the lens. Including on the 2 new D FA lenses.

Man. If I delete my reference to the original question will all these responses go away too?

It was just a simple question.

No; it has a life of its own (Sorry for making you feel a bit responsible for this mess)

But I'm out of this. This conversation can serve no purpose anymore.

There is a screwdrive motor.
It's confirmed.

If you get bored here you could go over to the K-S2 thread and get into the ongoing discussion about whether that camera can, can't, should, shouldn't, might, might not be able to use AA batteries.
