Is there a typo in the Pentax literature? The lens engraving shows f/4-5.6, but they've written f/4.5-5.6, in both the product description and the specs.

Typo. Indeed it is 4-5.6 AFAIK.

Actually, this lens is quite OK with the 16 Mpix sensors of K-5 and K-01, here with the latest @24mm f/4.5
Treatment with DxO9 : an other proof that the optical formula is same as 18-55, is that DxO corrects this lens with no need of dedicated plug-in.

Thanks for the look with DxO 9, which I also have. Waiting for the kit to be shipped (it is still Passover in NYC!). This Goyum wants his camera stuff NOW. (Just kidding, I can wait the extra few days, but just barely.....)
