Will the DA also have a plastic bayonet?!?
According to the picture (which is that of the HD DA), it seems it will.

If there are two versions, the DAL version will be plastic, but the HD version will be metal

If it's in the same price range was the 18-55 WR, I might just get this to keep on the k-30 while my k-3 has the DA20-40.

So this new series is made in Norway ?

Jokes aside, from the photo it seems the mount is plastic also on the HD version, but this can be a preliminary image not showing the official product.

Hope the L version retains the quick shift functionality...

Beat me to it. Pre-production models are often different from production models.

If we rely on the green ring a bit, the image shows the SMC DAL, which would have a plastic mount. The possibly red-ringed HD DA might have a metal one?

The SMC version is the Kit lens, the HD version is sold separately.
I wonder if there really will be a difference in the actual coatings,
or if there is just some "badge engineering" going on.

Kind of like the 55/1.8 and 55/2 Super-Takumars back in the day.

Look at the name ring and read the lettering

Sorry but the image clearly shows "HD" on the front of the lens with a green stripe.

The two latest HD lenses (70-200mm and 150-450mm) have a green ring. Red ring is history. The image shows the HD DA version: HD is written on the name ring.
