This might be our first WP lens.

They should make the kit type lens with choices of colours on the rings That way there could be one less thing to be complained about on the forum. On second thought that still would not work

I'm looking forward to this lens being released. Such a small zoom will be really useful, and the motor and WR are icing on the cake. All I ask is that it's sharp at 50mm at f/5.6, unlike the current kit lens.

18mm FF is wiiide...it would be a much larger lens.
For comparison, the Canon 17-40mm uses a 77mm front element.

I am looking forward to these new products! I own and use the big 16-50 and 50-135, but find myself using the 18-135 when I just want to make sure I have a camera with me. This new lens is very interesting. I also like the K-S2 specs. Thumbs up in my book for the goings on over in Ricoh/Pentax land.

I sure hope so...but people were asking in earnest whether the DA 16-85mm was FF compatible.

I was attempting humour. I thought it unlikely that such a small zoom would be FF. However now that Pentax seems to have gotten its mojo back, anything is possible

It looks like a handy lens, and good value too. It's now on my shopping list for 2015.

It is so compact.. I have little need of this but I still kind of want it.. DC WR HD coating and tiny. Fantastic, on paper, little walk around lens.

if it is the new kit zoom for future Pentax cameras then it means Pentax is still hanging onto its small form factor design.

Too much like Canon for my tastes but glad you like the red. I'm happy they are going back to Green myself.
Uh oh... Canon's Diffractive Optics lenses have green rings! Pentax will never be safe from Canon's green and red rings of doom!!

Official price is reported to be £229 for this in the UK. Even if it's extra small, it's still a slow kit lens and the price doesn't look like it'll reflect that.
