K-3 was $1299 at release. The price is between a Nikon D5300 ($700) and the new Canon T6s ($850) and similar to K-50 - those are the direct competitors.
Regardless, the price will likely fall within a few months. It also seems that this price is artificially high, as the front page article suggests $699 msrp.
