As it stands right now, you can purchase a K-3 for as little as $100 more than the K-S2. The K-3 still blows away the K-S2 for specs, so Pentax either has to bring the K-3 price up or bring the K-S2 price down.

No wonder.... we always though the new FF body was the reason for the price drop on the K-3 for the last months of 2014. But now, checking the KS-2 specs, I can clearly see that besides lack of top LCD, a metal body and less af points, the rest of the specs are considerably higher that those on the K5-iis, and by this, it could make an easy K-3 killer for the market.

Than new kit lens really calls my attention.... I really want to try one, just for the heck of it. Who knows, maybe its a good reason to get rid of my DA18-35 AL ii (non WR), now permanently installed in my trusty *istD, for anyone in the house to use as they see fit

Yes. the S2 is a nice kit. I love my K-30 but I am tempted to pre-order now for that price. I paid >$600 when I got my K-30 and at $749 with all of the improvements from the K-30 AND the 18-50, it is hard not to get it. I have the WR 18-55 so maybe I can sell it with my K-30 for a couple hun to use for my S2.

Yep, the attitude shift here is nothing short of amazing. I'm not sure I can stand all the positiveness................ I wonder if everything will be announced prior to CP+ or if they saved something back. Already an impressive list, though.

I'm never an early adopter, but I'm fighting off pre-ordering the Forest Green with the new kit lens for $796.
Yes it's early, but Amazon wants $800 for body alone!

A damn fine looking camera. I thought the bland K-50 was a styling mishap, and the K-S1 looks like a toy spaceship. This K-S2 on the other hand, looks classy yet very modern. It looks rugged and compact. It looks like it means business! And the accenting bottom plate coloring options are wonderfully subtle, yet visible enough to stand from the Cankion crowd.

There was talk last year of leaf-shutter lenses for the 645z, to be announced first half of this year.

That would round out Ricoh's full-frontal assault nicely

Pentax used to be doomed!!!

The sky was falling, but then it floated back up and nuzzled itself up next to space where it belongs!!

"As it stands right now"...

Then get the K-3. Ricoh is making a bet that by now most people who want the K-3 already have it. The K-S2 is brand new, with unique features of its own, eg swivel screen, wifi, retractable kit lens. Therefore it commands a premium.

I never was much interested in a swivel screen; something else to break. However, recently I've developed an interest in waist-level 'anonymous' shooting (bring back the TLR!). I would be interested to hear how feasible that is with the K-S2's tilt screen.

My brother, who has a similar articulating screen on a Canon, uses his screen in exactly that way - pretending to "fiddle" with the controls while actually composing a picture - so I would think it will be useful that way on the K-S2.

Yeah, it was never a selling point to me for articulating probably because I don't shoot in LV that often. It is great in videos though. I had a Canon bridge (S3-IS) before I saw the light and became a Pentaxian and uses the Canon with the articulated a lot but a DSLR VF is much brighter and more informative so it would never really matter to me if articulated or nof. It has its advantages at times but what I like the most is that articulated is protected from scratches and getting oils of my face from using the VF.
