It wasn't on any of the roadmaps I could find but is was always on the website. In my search I found one lens that never made it though.

I found old roadmaps - 2008 and 2011. No FA50/1.4 and FA35/2. But the focal length name is Current DA and DFA lenses and the name of roadmap is LENS DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP (2008). As for 2011 - K-mount Lens Line Up.

Maybe I'm wrong...But it seems to me I saw FA50/1.4 last year's roadmap. How to check it?
I don't know about last years, but it wasn't on 2009 and 2012 because I have those. They weren't on the initial 2015 until they revised it. The 1st vs was a pdf and the current revision is a jpg. It seems people are scrambling at Pentax!

And all DA lenses will work in crop mode.
This is an important thing that a lot of people are forgetting. Crop mode seems like a great way to get many of the benefits of FF (much lower noise at high ISOs, etc) even if you don't have FF-compatible glass yet.

IIRC I once read the FA50/1.4 and FA35/2 were stock lenses in Japan and could be ordered for other markets by dealers, but not Roadmapped as intended for future production runs. In the USA they've both apparently sold well enough to stay in the large dealers' catalogs. Maybe they just have a bunch of them in warehouses over there.

I'm not sure this is the case when one is using only a crop of the full-frame sensor. But doubtless someone on here will know.

I am curious about this as well.

I would love it if they released a 20mm prime -- maybe f4 -- basically a DA 15 for full frame. I'd be fine with f5.6, as long as it was sharp wide open and it had the same contrast and flare resistance the DA 15 has. Probably won't happen, but a fun lens to think about.

It is red though.. does this mean WR? A 12-28ish WR lens would be very nice with the updated coatings.

And there is always the ace in the hole in the fine print 'road map may vary in response to market situation' -- I'd say launching a FF body would cause a response to their market situation hehe

On the roadmap, doesn't green represent DA, yellow is DA* and red is HD ? That would mean that all upcoming lenses on 2015 or later all HD lenses. I was just wondering if I am reading it correctly.

That would sort of imply that. The FA & FA LTD are purple and have the SMC Coating and in some cases include the Ghostless Coating.

It definitely changed.

It would only have lower noise at high ISOs in crop mode if the sensor had lower noise at high ISOs in APS-C format. Otherwise it would be the same noise as the equivalent APS-C sensor.

To clarify, if the FF sensor is the larger version of the k-3 sensor or the k-5 sensor, the crop mode ISO performance would match the k-3 or k-5 respectively.

Ah yes this is not the same map I saw yesterday. Much more appropriate, glad they fixed it..
