I liked the roadmap, so far.

One new wide zoom for DA. Three new zooms for the upcoming FF. A Pro and a Consumer. Nice!

I like the FA 50 and 35 to still in production. But they should upgrade those with the new coatings, aperture blades WR.

I wish Ricoh could re-release the FA 20-35, with new coatings, round aperture and, maybe, a DC AF. Would be awesome!

Also, my wishlist would be they reengineer the mechanics and AF for their 16-50 and 50-135. The optics are already good, but there are things about relliability that set many people away from those.

There was new info that Tokina and Ricoh resume to cooperation in development of FF lenses.
Tokina Confirms Pentax Full-frame Under Development - CP+ 2013 | PentaxForums.com

"A Tokina employee revealed to us today at CP+ that Tokina has renewed their discussions with Pentax about reviving their lens collaboration as of late last year.

According to the employee, Pentax is reportedly developing a full-frame camera (he claims that a prototype already exists). He stated that all lenses developed will be re-branded under the Pentax name as it had been done in the past.

Talks had previously stalled after the Ricoh takeover in 2011, but Pentax has requested that Tokina still show new lens designs for possible collaboration. However, no Tokina prototype lenses have been made for the Pentax full-frame yet, and no deals have been finalized.

Tokina is an independent lens manufacturer who has co-designed lenses with Pentax; those lenses have been branded under the Tokina and Pentax names. Though Tokina no longer markets many of these lenses, most of these co-designs are still sold under the Pentax name.

If you know that to be true, OK. But how would you know that to be true? It's my impression that Ricoh is playing a serious game - establishing their cred as a real maker, not just a brand pusher. Until we learn differently I assume everything they produce for the professional FF is 'own-design' product.

In shared design products, the key is, who owns the design - the patent(s). Who pays money to license the design and who accepts money to license the design?

For 25 years Pentax received revenue from licensing at least parts of the SMC coating process. Did anyone ever sniff at every single other lens maker's (except Leica) optical coatings because they licensed SMC?

Was it "Sure - but it's just a rebadged Pentax coating - so big deal?" Was it "Sure - but it's the same coating as Nikon - so big deal?" No. It was whatever the maker branded the coating as, even if some to most to nearly all of the process was SMC. Except Pentax. At Pentax it was SMC.

The new telezooms have certainly not turned op in Tokina's line up.

I am 90% sure that new Pentax wide DA zoom lens, mentioned in a new roadmap, will be Tokina 12-28mm f/4 (excellent!) which is upgrade of Tokina 12-24mm rebranded also as Pentax DA 12-24mm.

It could be possible that D-FA wide zoom will also come from Tokina but I am not sure which Tokina lens will be rebranded. Upgrade of Tokina 17-35mm f/4 maybe.

Most of all I would like to see Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 rebranded as Pentax, but that probably won't happen.

I can see Ricoh rebranding for completing DA range, having their own efforts on FF. I frankly do not expect any rebranding for high end FF they need now. Kit lens also improbable because it would cost them way too much. Cooperation though possible but would tokina/tamron care about kit lens ? Dont think so.

If Pentax FF is alright, I expect more Sigma support within a year. Maybe Tammy then. Zeiss/Voitlander if we're lucky.

I would take your 2 assumptions ; and add a home-made 24-90mm f/4 for the kit lens (based on quite recent FA24-90/3.5-4.5)

That's been my thinking - that was a very nice lens.

Tokina has a 16-28/2.8 and it says "large diameter" on a roadmap...

Pals, as being a pirate I lost my eye and can't see: where is SMC DA 16-45mm/f4.0 ED AL on that map?
BTW very decent glass (besides noticeable pincushion distortions at wide angle).
